In Singapore, they discontinued the 1cent coin and I think 1$ note and the 20$ note. Seldom see them around.

One-pound notes were phased out by the Bank of England, and are no longer in circulation.

However, the banks in Scotland still issue them.

Although even here, they seem to be rare. They're not common in the cities, from what I've heard.

And there have also been occasions where ALL Scottish notes have been refused in English shops.

Well Kal, I've seemed to have um "pissed in someones pocket in OZ and am being

treated like a wombat...but yes, sen the the Federal Reserve Notes and some of

the old confederate script too.

Wonder if they didn't realise I was having them on....oh well, true friends are blue

friends or some asshat silly saying of that nature...

Send it man....send it. ;).

1) Why is my Queen on the Australian money?
2) Since when did Scottish people have money? I thought everyone in the UK used the same money.

I can't think of any coins we don't use. I use most of them all the time but some people throw anything less than 10p away. I keep any coins that have a pretty picture on the back though. They make some odd ones and I hate spending them.

I think Australia like Canada is a Commonwealth country. Which would be why the Queen of England is on the currency. Don't know if Scotland is considered Commonwealth or something else entirely.

In most countries even if it is no longer in general use, any outdated currency is ofter able to be sold as on EBAY or banks will give you the same value you with the new currency. If not, keep it as a souvenir of days gone by. My grandchildren like my "old time" stories, and sometimes I give them old currency as real life souvenirs of a story I have told to them. I notice they tend to keep them on display with their personal possessions for quite a while.

1) Why is my Queen on the Australian money?

Because like Canada and New Zealand, Australia is part of the Commonwealth - the Queen is the head of state.

There is no President of Australia.

(although I would nominate ravenstar, crowboy, ozguy, braex27 for a special election to this post) :soapbox:

2) Since when did Scottish people have money?

Looking around this place, I can see your point.

Ahem.

Scotland and Northern Ireland each have their own banks that print their own notes under their own rules (don't think that Wales does).

Up here, I regularly use and recognise notes from four different banks - Bank of England, Royal Bank of Scotland, Bank of Scotland, and Clydesdale Bank. There's also the Ulster Bank.

They're (supposed to be) completely interchangeable and recognised in all parts of the U.K. In practice, myself or my dad have once or twice had problems with English shops refusing our notes.

Well, maybe that was the reason my Scottish ancestors left the place 300 years ago.

Couldn't they have gone to Australia? Don't get me wrong, the South and the States are my home, but I find Aussies to be so damn hot, and I'd love to live in a country with a Queen on the money!

Tx...

Question..did you mean your ancestors were Scottish or did you mean into the
Scotch?....No problem, I do "bi" that way too.:##:

I get a serious hard on for Australia:D.....look at how many fucking miles of naked and semi naked and speedo enhanced beaches they have.*|*

Imagine, you can be in a foreign country and still almost understand the

language...Plus, you just gotta love anyplace where firing up the barbie
doesn't mean licking some dolls gash.:-< heheheheh

NO,

only poor/corrupt countries use US dollars.

Haha that wasn't the question. The question was: does your country's currency have seldom used denominations; i.e. the US $2.00 note or US $.50 $1.00 coins which exist, but are seldom used in America.

Everytime I see one of his posts I wonder what languages are used in Australia.

:Nanu-Nanu!:

Not really, I do have a 100 trillion dollar note from Zimbabwe though (YES, IT IS REAL!) ;)

Thynight,

The upper crust Aussies speak the language of love and lust as though

on THE MAIN HIGHWAY. Tellie sometimes comes up a ramp or so short or might

even overshoot one now and again. He is a good egg though and even if Mr.

Bemused was being a little hard boiled it wasn't in a mean spited manner.

Australian money looks like it belongs in a monopoly game. And it's some polymer thing that stops people reproducing it.

But...but...isn't currency SUPPOSED to look like it belongs in a Monopoly game? Monopoly has different colours for the different amounts. As far as I've been able to tell - though I certainly haven't researched it fully - the United States seems to be the only nation IN THE WORLD which has (more or less) the same colour for all the different demoninations (face value, in dollars) of all its currency.

Frank, those numbers are unbelievable.

Thats more dollars than there are swimmers in a healthy ejaculate.*|*

My god, one egg + one swimmer, = one family......|.

and you want a dozen eggs :confused::help:
