NRA Tweet This Morning: "Good Morning, Shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend Plans?"

Where is NRA'S head office?
The shooters should go there and hunt ....

Fuck the NRA. They're nothing more than a terrorist group. Their lobbyists terrorize politicians in Washington to enact laws so these spoiled men-children can keep their toys.

I don't see the problem. Is everyone supposed to suddenly do something differently because of some nutcase flinging lead around? Like, if someone slammed a car into a day care and killed kids, are driving enthusiasts suddenly supposed to skip driving?

A car slamming into a day care center is an accident. A guy carrying loaded assault weapons into a theatre with intent to kill as many people as he can isn't an accident.

A gun is a weapon. A car is a transportation device. Driving a car into a bunch of kids to kill them intentionally, it's still a transportation device. Smothering 50 kids with pillows, they're still pillows. Drowning 50 kids in bathtubs, they're still bathtubs. A gun is a machine intended to shoot pieces of metal out at high speed. It's main function is to kill living things.

An assault with an extended clip is a weapon of mass destruction. The NRA is a terrorist group encouraging these weapons of mass destruction. If the selected politician doesn't obey them, they will make sure they don't have their job anymore and they will keep on until they get politicians who support them.

The NRA has blood on it's hands.

Guns exist for one purpose and one purpose only..to kill people. There is no way on earth you can tell me there is a valid purpose for a gun clip that allows you to fire off 50-60 rounds in less than a minute.

Impressive ignorance.

Hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition are fired off through firearms in the United States annually. Hardly any of those rounds go in the direction of a human being. Tell the owners of those firearms that the only reason those items exist is to kill people, and you'll get laughed at for your ignorance.

Firearms exist for various reasons. Unless you're in the military, killing people is quite low on the list. For most owners of firearms, they're no different in purpose than golf clubs or a tennis racket.

Oh -- a purpose for those clips? That depends on the firearm. For a .22, they're superb for eliminating prairie dogs in the cattle pasture. An AR-15 can be used for that, too, though the ammo is more spendy.

BTW, the rate of fire in one minute depends solely on the finger of the user, not on the weapon.

No more so than you or I.

This guy purchased everything legally and followed all of the necessary legal procedures. The only thing that could have stopped this was the people that interacted with him at UoC recognizing the warning signs that he was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

I'm gonna agree with Kuli and JB3. He purchased all of the weapons legally.
This is something that is going to need discussions more than anything and is way past time for it. It is true the UoC should have recognized something if they did anything after the shooting in Virginia. I believe it was Va.
Laws are needing to be changed for shops that sell guns. I mean the amount of ammo and the type of guns should ring bells. I read this AM that one magazine he had could hold 100 bullets.

Police chief: Suspect bought over 6,000 rounds of ammunition through Internet
By Thom Patterson, CNN
updated 10:40 PM EDT, Fri July 20, 2012

(CNN) -- Authorities in the Colorado movie theater massacre found an AR-15 rifle drum magazine Friday capable of carrying 100 rounds, and the police chief said thousands of rounds of ammunition for various weapons had been bought online in the weeks prior to the shooting.

However just reading the article in the above, he bot 6000 rounds of ammo. How is anyone to find out about this. He bot them through the internet.
Everyone here needs to lay off of Kuli. I know what and why he has guns and after lengthy discussions I have had with him, I agree with his side.

Kuli, when it comes to the subject of guns control, you fall into that unfortunate category of "I know what's right and if you disagree with me then you're stupid".

No one needs an assault weapon. It's a tool designed to kill quickly and efficiently. That's it's sole purpose. The NRA likes these machines because they're adult toys and if you try to take their toys away from them they whine. I know a man in Minneapolis who collects assault rifles and he has enough firepower in his den to massacre half of the Twin Cities. They're his toys. They're also weapons of mass destruction with the 30+ round magazines.

There was a federal assault weapons ban but it expired under George W Bush (surprise, surprise).

You don't need an assault weapon to kill prairie dogs besides I don't think there are too many prairie dogs in downtown Aurora, Colorado, on the campus of Virginia Tech or in the cafeteria of Columbine High School.

Just because he purchased these weapons legally doesn't make it right. If you purchase cigarettes which are nothing more than a nicotine delivery system, used as directed this legal product will eventually kill you. My tax dollars subsidize the growers of this addictive drug and pay for the cancer treatments these addicts develop.

There are bad laws. The NRA and gun suckers tell lawmakers what they want these laws to be. No one needs a magazine that holds 100 rounds. There used to be laws against these WMD's but the gun lobbyists made sure they disappeared.

And lay off Kuli? He can take as least as much as he dishes out.

Okkkk, but I quit smoking Sept 19 2007, so this doesn't concern me. Kuli is right in his beliefs, but now you are going to have to listen to him.

Good for you for quitting smoking! I'm proud of you. :=D:

But Peaches, Kuli is wrong in his beliefs. He may think I'm wrong but the big difference between us is that I don't call him ignorant for his beliefs. Wrong, but not stupid.

Truly, he seems to have left quite an impressive bomb in his apartment, if he didn't have the firearms for his rampage, he could just as easily blown up the theater with an even higher casualty rate.

That quote from Bloomberg is eating them alive. They, the GOP, do the rich's bidding and one of the rich despises them. (Actually many of the rich despise them especially those that are self-made billionaires like Bloomberg, Soros, Gates, Buffett, etc.)

An armed populace is one of paranoia and violence.

Only to the cowardly.

I've lived in places where every household has a gun, where kids went out shooting on their own. There was no paranoia, and the only violence was at bars on Friday nights -- places where there were no firearms.

The only places I've lived where there's been any paranoia have been places where firearms are restricted, and the only paranoia was from those who didn't like them.

It's all part of a nation of cowards (cf Jeffrey Snyder).

There's no such thing as an "assault weapon". It's a term about as specific as "favorite color" -- it means whatever the user wants it to, and almost invariably it's used by people irrationally scared of guns who don't know anything about them, to mean "guns that look scary to me".

What are generally called "assault weapons" by the media are NOT "designed to kill quickly and efficiently" -- they do so no more than my dad's old .30-06. What they are designed for is to tickle the fancy of people who like to turn paper targets into confetti without having to reload, for the purpose of selling lots of ammunition -- because shooters at the range who don't have to reload tend to use one and a half to two times as much ammo as those who do.

Please look up "weapons of mass destruction". Your usage fails on one small item: a weapon of mass destruction kills masses of people on one "discharge". If you know how, and do it carefully, if you're really good you might be able to kill four people with one discharge of an "assault weapon" -- if the four cooperate with you.

Of course you don't. The GOA and NRA never see the problem. I would suspect that a dozen families in Aurora now do. But nothing anyone says regarding gun legislation will ever make you see any more clearly; it is all about "freedom" although in reality it is nothing more than the freedom to make anyone with a differing view a target.

Great dodge. Changing the subject is always a good ploy.

You're citing a man who has been rebuked and threatened with prosecution by the US Department of Justice for blatantly disregarding the law and interfering in ongoing investigations? who was also rebuked by neighboring jurisdictions for illegally interfering with law enforcement operations within their jurisdictions?
