NY Mets 2013

Syam,I can’t go along with your notion that Ike is the one who needs a “kick in the butt” he is trying as hard as we can hope to fix what is wrong, this is not something he brought on himself or made happen by lack of interest or trying in the game and how well he plays it. In fact the opposite is true with Ike working long after everyone has hit the showers staying in in the cage trying to figure it all out. If anyone is to blame it is all the well meaning people who are filling his head with what he needs to do to get better “do this” and ”try that” is becoming more of a negative than a positive in helping him. The problem is following him onto the field and now he is making defense errors we never saw from Ike before he has lost focus. Fortunately he has the full support of the team and management everyone sees how hard Ike is working and how much he wants to improve. DWright has been terrific talking to Ike building his spirits and being there for him as has many of other Ike's teammates, but David has been outstanding. I know that Alderson is in no hurry to pull the plug on Ike he wants to give him as much time as possible before making any moves all of that is what keep up confidence and attitude. Ike is not looking at every at bat these days with respect to the results but rather having good at-bats which if you are paying attention has been a little better. The boys come home tonight and the next few days will be very important for Ike as he continues top figure things out. I only hope and ask the fans to be kind to him at Citi hold off on your boos support him as much as possible remember what he meant and continues to mean to this team and help him work it out with your support. I want Ike to cut back on trying all the things that people keeping filling in his ear it is at the point where the kid no longer knows where he was before it all started to unravel he should work only with Hudgens and Geren and perhaps Goodwin at first, I have suggested Ike continue looking at the old video when he snapped out of his slump last year and follow that look at everything from the time he steps into the on deck circle to when he returns to the dugout what was he doing then and then do that again now. I will have much more on Ike over the next few days with him being here at home where in can keep better track on him. Let’s stop focusing on the results and just start working on having good at-bats. For me, I thought his at-bats were a little bit better the last few days.

First I have to say I'm happy when our boys win games like this, 4-3 and coming from behind. Big hit by DWright and two key home runs, a two run homer by Juan Lagares and a solo one in the eighth to take the lead for a hot Danel Murphy. Murph in particular, now with four home runs after only hitting six last year, is driving the ball with more authority. Only if we can get him to not overthink when he will inevitably slump. TC was mentioning just how hard Murph works at it when he's going bad, soetimes it's just too much pressing. When he gets going he really gets into a great groove....it just will make him all that much more effective if he can keep the groove going and minimize the rough patches.

Collins looks like he wants to continue today's moving Murph into the leadoff spot. Basically Collins wants people who can get on to lead off, and Murph also drives the ball for doubles, now even more homers. He has enough patience to take some walks as well.... Murph seems to love it(scored earlier on the DWright hit) and really hitting like he can he's more valuable getting on base which the Mets need than hitting third or fifth in the order as no one else was getting on base placed up on top of the order.

Ike I really feel for, it's got to be killing him that unlike last year ther's just no sensible reason for this horrendous start. From what I read about him, and what sonny says and knows about him he just might be overloaded right now trying to set himself right. He DOES need to stop swinging on so many low pitches, and his swing is seen as too long even by the guys in the booth... maybe the whole philosophy of taking pitches that a lot of people(including sonny and the guys in the booth have criticized as taken too rigidly to heart.) sets him up for the pitcher having the advantage over him. Mets still aren't thumping the ball as a team, the patient approach( more like "passive") has been used against them so much I wonder unless it's enforced from on high by Sandy Alderson why the Mets haven't adjusted, or relieved Dave Hudgens of duty and gone to a new hitting coach. Ike we KNOW is better than this, and a good hitting instructor will get the best out of the player... I agree with patience for Ike but really worry he isn't getting the best advice from Hudgens and his supporters. He's no Adam Dunn...always a huge feast or famine player. He strikes out but not alarmingly so as he is now. I just really hope he can find a way to get the old smooth swing back, and not have to worry again about looking so lost and pathetic at the plate for such long stretches. Ike's a goood guy and a good teammate and I hope for his peace of mind he can start consistently getting the best out of himself.

I missed both weekend games busy with the Cyclones, I have en on DVR and will catch up maybe today, Saucy mentioned both Daniel Murph and Ike Davis, I have not seen the Collins thing on Murph but I assume he said what I have been tellin you guys and that he is not the tinkerer that Ike is which is where the difference lies. Ike will tinker play around and experiment at the plate which is not good, his every at bat looks different where Murph on thy other hand never tinkers at the plate he does all his experimenting in the cage and he will view his at bat and analyze them till he figures them out, then and only then will he take the changes to the plate. Daniel treats baseball like a science he never stops working at improvement he is truly obsessed. As to advice Ike takes way too much advice and listens to more people than he should. Murph likes Hudgens and takes his advice but others he just listens politely but he prefers to figure it out on his own. Interestingly one of the few people Daniel trusts and listings to his younger brother Jonathan. Daniel thinks Jonathan, who was drafted by the Minnesota twins and plays center field in the minor league Miracle team in Fort Meyers, is a better athlete and someday very soon will surpass anything Daniel has done up to now, he sees big things in baseball for his best friend and little bro. I have watched Jonathan play a few times and have seen the brothers play together I may have posted a video of the two of them a while back where you can see the similarities in their swing and in the way they play defense, its rather interesting. Of course the boys are very close and spend a lot of time together Jonathan lives with Daniel in the off season where they spend the winter working on their game. Daniel’s hitting streak is now up to eight games, in case you have not noticed his favorite pitch is the one thrown in and above the upper-half of the strike zone, where he is 9-for-14 with four doubles and a home run.

As to Murph in the leadoff will try that again tonight, Ike back in the lineup but not cleanup he will bat 6th
Full lineup set as: Murphy, Ankiel, Wright, Duda, Byrd, Davis, Buck, Tejada and Marcum on the mound-

I got this pic sent to me of KB making the mistake of going live on the air this weekend standing too close to Murph and the resulting photo bombing. Kevin should have learned by now never stand too close to Murphy or Turner when on air live cause if you do, well.. You’re just asking for it. ;)

Loved hearing my boy Cory Vaughn has been named Eastern League Player of the Week. Zack is Batting .400 with 2 doubles, 1 home run, 9 RBI, 5 runs. Also doing well is Zach Lutz who is on a 9 game hitting streak at 16 for 36 that’s .444.Hope to see them back at Citi soon.

Nice win by the Mets on Sunday, with the key HR's by Lagares (who also doubled) and Daniel Murphy. Solid bullpen work was also a nice surprise with two solid innings from Scott RIce and Parnell closing it down with a 1,2,3 save. I wasn't intimating that Ike isn't working hard to break out of it. I'm sure he's getting all sorts of advice from "too" many people, who are trying to help. Maybe he just needs to be told in a strong voice "Ike, get your ass in the box, and just hit the damn ball!" Forget all the other crap people are saying. See the ball, hit the ball. We all know he has the ability.

Gee syam is that all it takes I will be sure to pass that on to Ike, he will be so relieved. :D
Do not expect to hear Ike discuss going to the minors anymore cause he is sick of those questions and will not talk about that so don’t even try and bring it up.

Thoughts and prayers to Jeremy Hefner who’s hometown was so badly hit by the tornado. After many long and scary hours Hef found out all his family and friends that still live in his hometown were ok, even his house survived. Jeremy grew up and lived a mile from where the tornado hit hardest and he attended the school that had the roof ripped off the building. Poor kid went thru Hell and was beyond distraught till finally he knew everyone in his family and his friends was ok he has a lot of family who live within five miles of the disaster.
This morning he needed to do something for his home town anything he could think of so he is making a community outreach appearance for New York cares.
So happy for Hef prayers go out to those not so fortunate.

Whatever else he's been doing, isn't working. Perhaps Ike is working "too" hard and should just take a day or two off from the batting cages, and just hit during the game. He needs to recalibrate his mind. Or....maybe he does need to go to Vegas and get out of his funk there. I'm sure this would have happened if the Mets had someone to put into his slot on a regular basis. I know Duda is the fallback position, but that leaves another hole in the outfield. A good effort by Niese last nite, however the lineup produced nothing. Let's hope Harvey gets 'em back on track today. Let's go Mets!!

Just a word to all those assholes going to Citi and boo Ike Davis starting from the time he steps into the on deck circle and all thru his at bats. What exactly are you trying to accomplish here, are you trying to prove what idiots you are, are you trying to tear down Ike’s confidence or is this just sport to you. Maybe you are trying to compensate for your little dicks, I am not sure what your problem is but one thing is for sure you are not men. The fools doing the booing are nothing less than bullies plain and simple. These lowlifes think its fun to kick a man when he is down and make sport of tearing down a great guy.
What is happening to Ike is hard enough for him to endure without the “fans” getting on him in such a brutal manner. He does not deserve what they are doing to him, his problems are not self-inflected and is tearing him up he does not need a pack of morons making life harder.

Ike Davis has given us some great baseball but beyond that is Ike Davis the man who is one of the sweetest kindest people you would ever know. He spends hours and hours working on helping people with sickness and works tirelessly on helping kids with disabilities he is one of those guys you can always turn to for help if you need it a great hum an being who just so happens is having a rough time in his career.
It goes beyond the fuckin morons in the stands but also to the press who seen to find great joy out of asking him the same embarrassing questions over and over and putting him in almost impossible situations with degrading and difficult questions to answer. What Ike needs and deserves now is support and understanding not a barrage of unkind words and calls for his demotion. Whatever is in store for Ike we will probably won’t know till Monday after the Braves series, most of us do not expect a change in his status if at all till then.
But I will say that perhaps under the circumstances if Ike cannot find himself battling back perhaps the best thing may be going to Vegas. It is not something I would normally recommend for Ike but with all the negativity and bad mouthing going on here in NY he needs to get away for a while to somewhere more positive and helpful to help him figure it all out. The best person I know for Ike, besides his dad, right now is Wally Backman who would do wonders for Ike’s confidence and together with the coaches get him back on track. Ike also has a ton of friends some very close ones as a matter of fact on the team in Vegas to welcome and help him thru this. Don’t misunderstand, his teammates here have been totally supportive with guys like Wright and especially Turner keeping Ike’s spirits up. But he needs more in the way of working thru his troubles and it starts by getting away from NY, the so called “fans” and the irritating media.

Today is a day off many of the guys are in a golf tournament and Ike will be surrounded by his buddies which will be very therapeutic for him he needs this day away from it all and let those of us who love him give him a little fresh air to breathe.

Stop being an unproductive Ike hater and start being a supportive fan we need him strong and back doing what we known he can do and that is play great baseball..

The Ike Man will be back!

After such a crappy Saturday weather wise and Mets wise, losing the unfinished Friday tie to Atlanta 7-5 and being embarrassed 6-0 despite a strong effort by Jeremy Hefner giving up only two runs in six innings, being shut down masterfully by Atlanta's Mike Minor I was too pissed to post anything. Yet so happy with Sunday's stirring victory over Atlanta, 4-2. Lucas Duda hit an early solo home run but our boys did something thay haven't done that much of since early in the season, which is rally late behind 2-1 in the eighth to score three runs. John Buck knocked in one but the key was Ike Davis, who I felt so good for after all the shit he's been through this season just trying to find out wtf was wrong with his approach at the plate. The other night he had a hard hit liner against fireballing Braves closer Craig Kimbrel... tonight he smacked the game winning hit to plate two runs for the 4-2 Mets victory. Shaun Marcum was for the first time this year magnificent, one mistake resulting in a two run homer but overall going seven innings, only allowing four hits, and astoundingly striking out 12. Not known as overpowering but a fine craftsman when he has command of all his pitches, they were in near perfect synch tonight. Just feel so good for Ike, who while isn't the only problem in the Mets lineup is the most glaring one especially because the pitching hasn't been good enough overall to get some needed wins for our boys. He's trying so hard, caring so much and hearing the boos when he fails and knowing the temptations to send him down to Las Vegas are building on the Mets organization. It's gotta feel so good when he can key a win like tonight. It doesn't mean everything is suddenly okay, but if it helps to get him focused and help regain confidence it may be an important turning point.

Tonight and tomorrow night, part 1 of the Subway Series against the Yankees ...two games here at CitiField, and two more Wednesday and Thursday at Yankee Stadium. Hopefully our boys will represent well ... Let's go, Mets!!!

Hey there Mets' fans I've a baseball related question.

So if I, as a baseball batter hit a ball into foul territory and no one catches the ball before it hits the ground it is called a strike *wave*, unless of course I already have two strikes. If someone catches the foul ball before it hits the ground I am called out.

Here is my confusion. If I as a baseball batter hit a ball but the hit is just a glancing blow off of the bat and into the catchers mitt it is called a strike *wave* (if I have less than two strikes) but not an out even though it is a foul ball caught before the foul ball hits the ground. I understand a foul tip into the catcher's mitt when I have two strikes is an out *wave*if I, as the batter, am tagged by the catcher or if the catcher throws the ball to first base before I, as the batter, arrive at first base*wave* but this is not the case with a foul ball caught by other players besides the catcher *wave* .

Question :help: : Why the different rulings even though both hits are foul balls caught before they hit the ground ](*,) .

Thanks.

ys

1. Yuki, I believe the rule is, with less than two strikes a foul must be higher than the batter's head (could be the catcher's head) to be considered an out if caught by the catcher. I don't know why that was made the rule, but my guess is that it was felt it would be unfair to the batter to be called out on a tip, inadvertant or otherwise with less than two strikes. It could happen on the first pitch, and really not give the batter a "real" at bat, or opportunity to get a hit. However, after having two strikes, the batter has had enough opportunity to make an attempt at hitting his way on base, so if he should tip a ball and the catcher doesn't drop it, it is an out. THat's my guess.

2. Not much to add to Sausy's wrap up to last nite's barnburner of game. Marcum was outstanding, mixing his pitches, changing speeds, and keeping the Braves off balance. Hoping Marcum will get on a roll of respectable to good pitching. Was so good to see Ike come thru. He's certainly not out of the woods with his hitting woes, but hopefully this is the start of a steady climb to start bashing the ball as he can do. It was like a breath of fresh air for him to come thru like that, and obvious from his teammates' reactions to how much they want Ike to succeed. It's been frustrating as a fan, and I KNOW so much more so for Ike. THe bullpen did a good job with another one, two, three save from Parnell. A solid game from everyone, rare this seaon, but fun to see for a change. Now the Yankees.....Lets go Mets!!

So it turns out Ike was right when he said over and over that he did not want or need to go to Vegas he just needed time to get right again. Many thought, including me, that with all the crap he was going thru here with the fans and the media that it would be impossible for him to ever keep his head clear and be able to focus again it was getting more and more difficult as time passed to the point of it effecting his defense. It’s not that I ever thought even for a second that Ike would not rebound I just could not stand seeing him suffer the emotional pain anymore and I wanted a change that I thought would do him some good. But Ike kept telling us he was not ready to accept the idea of a demotion he would be fine all he needed to do was relax again stop thinking about the rumors or the hounding press, which is what he did a couple of days ago when he was feeling as thou he was making progress hitting the ball better after trying to keep his weight on his back leg longer. Once again he began joking around the clubhouse and returning to his old self and yesterday he came thru big time having the best day he has had in quite a while and man oh man did that feel good. “It was a fun day today” is what we heard from Ike and you have to hope that yesterday was the beginning of the return of the Ike Man.
Credit to Alderson and Collins for believing in him, it meant a lot, Alderson was on the scene and greeting Ike after that 2 run RBI. Credit as well to all his teammates who backed him up always supporting him and never letting him get too far down The celebration in the clubhouse after last night s game was huge with everyone and I mean EVERYONE so happy and excited for Ike it was all about him last night as well it should. You can believe that Ike heard all the cheers form the fans which was described to me by one of the boys as being deafening and louder than he has heard at Citi in a while. Who knows (well maybe Ike does) if his success will carry into the subway series and he is back for good but it is sure bet that it will and ya gotta know that Ike wants to take advantage of that short right field porch at Yankee Stadium...|
As I have told you guys many times Ike is beloved by his teammates and Ike's win yesterday was a win for the entire team with all the brothers celebrating his breakout, a breakout that all of us are wishing for Ike to continue, he needs to put together a solid couple of weeks.

Sadly last night’s game was not on ESPN so we did not get to hear Gary and the boys reaction to Ike’s big night but no worries kiddies tonight’s game is on PIX 11 where Kevin Ron and Keith have the call in the Subway opener and ya know that they will talk about it.

Another positive last night was Marcum’s awesome performance. I had my doubts about this guy when Alderson signed him, let’s all hope he is able to keep it going I liked the way he mixed his pitches very well and kept the Braves confused. Marcum of course is hoping along with Gee and Hefner to remain in the starting lineup when Wheeler gets here. One of em will have to go.

Tonight Ike will be batting 7th in the Mets/Yankees opener, Murph drops down to 2nd; the lineup will be:Tejada Murphy Wright Duda Buck Ankiel Davis Baxter and Niese on the mound

A very nice win by the Mets last nite with a solid pitching performance from Jon Niese, a clutch HR from the Captain, DWright, and another clutch hit from Daniel Murphy, who was robbed of a 2 run HR by Gardiner earlier in the game at the center field fence, 385 ft from home plate. The bullpen did a fine job again, with Bobby Parnell racking up another save. Tonite's game is in a rain delay, but I think the tarp is coming off the field. Looking forward to Matt Harvey vs the Yankees. Let's go Mets!!

Well I dono what was the most fun for last night that great win or Burkhardt speaking with Doc Gooden.
Of course Murphy did it again after getting robbed of a big hit for the second time in a row by the same outfielder who’s name I will not say :p but Murph gets a little pay back again last night with that double setting the table for Duda to win the game WOW how much fun was that?. But the interviews with Doc that KB conducted was magical, listening to Doc had me hanging on to his every word there was the doctor calling almost every pitch that Harvey tossed to perfection, two great pitching minds in perfect sync that was simply awesome and I have that game tucked away on my DVR to enjoy again and again especially over the winter. Kevin is the master at the art of the interview we all know that but last night he outdid even himself and gave us a rare inside look at what a great former pitcher thinks about the new and upcoming great Matt Harvey. A special night to be sure

With all the talk about Ike Davis I have to wonder if Tejada who is also struggling badly has before he goes down and Omar Quintanilla gets called back up. That pick off at second committed by Rubin was really bad and never should have happened. Rather dumb really.
I will be watching what Ike does tonight at Yankee stadium with that short porch just calling out to him.

While I hated to see the great Mariano Rivera go out with such a whimper, he was an amazing closer for the Yankees, but at the same time if it had to happen that way I am glad it was the Mets that took him out.

One last thought I am so behind Terry Collins getting thrown out last night that ump changing his call with no assist was pure BS and good for Terry making sure he knew it.

Oh, there is joy in Mudsville!" -Keith Henandez

An exhilirating win by the Mets last nite, especially following the 2-1 victory on Monday nite. Once again Murphy and DWright were instrumental in getting clutch hits when needed. Lucas Duda's game winner did not go unnoticed either. Matt Harvey was his usual magnificent self, and certainly would not have deserved a loss should the Mets have not scored. Kuroda pitched a whale of a game for the Yankees. I had a feeling the Mets might do well against Rivera last nite. Kuroda's pitches were diving every which way, and with Rivera, I felt the Mets might have a better shot at some "straighter" pitches. Mo's move, but usually close to the same plane, as opposed to Kuroda's darting in, out, down. A very nice two game home sweep!! Let's go Mets!!

At some point..Mo was going to blow a save and our scoring woes would catch up with us. Just happened to be against the Mets. GOod game guys, but I think we'll take the next two.
I'll also be honest..since the 2000 World Series..the Subway Series really doesn't catch me the way it used to.

So now its 3 wins against the Yankees, but make no mistake we all now that the team the Mets are currently paying is not the NY Yankees we all know and love/hate but a collection of players who are filling in for all the guys out on DL Those guys have been doing a darn good job as well keeping the Yankees in great playing form. But still they are not the Yankees as we know them and so I am not kidding myself about that, once the Yankees come back strong again (and they will) the situation will change. Still it’s nice to have won 3 against them cause as I said the current Yankee team is playing really well

Yesterday I wrote that Omar Quintanilla might be back to replace Tejada if Rubin gets sent down, Then the Mets brass told both Rubin and Ike that Vegas was in the future almost immediately if they did not improve. Tejada reacted by giving himself what appears tom be a quadriceps injury when he slid on a foul popup in the ninth inning and was removed from the game. He will have his quad checked out on this morning. I guess Rubin would rather go on the DL than got to Vegas
I’m just sayin

Meantime down in Vegas Omar Quintanilla, who is hitting .333 on the year, was pulled from the game almost immediately after Tejada went boom and that means to me that Quintanilla would likely be headin to NY possibly today to replace Rubin. Who will be taken out to make room on the roster should be interesting more on that part of the story later.
Also back in Vegas some of the boys are tearing it up there guys like Josh Satin, who is hitting .316 on the season, Wilmer Flores, and Kirk Nieuenhuis have been playing some outstanding ball and are making a good case to be called back to NY. Nieuwenhuis has had an upswing in power doing really well so proud of him.as he responds so positively to his demotion.
Be back later today with more

Definitely loving the sweep at CitiField and the win at Yankee Stadium last night. The best thing about last night's 9-4 win was that each player in the lineup contributed to the result, not just Murph Or Wright or Duda. Ike having two hits including ripping a two run single was so great to see...he had previously looked in the Series like he was trying too hard, but hopefully he as with the clutch hits in the last win against Atlanta is heading on a better track for the rest of the season. Loved sonny and syam's perspectives and Ninja's as a Yankee fan and definitely want to hear more! This has certainly been the highlight of the Met's season so far and I hope will lead to more big games and the boys can leave the dreary start of the season behind.

S W E E P ! ! ! Holy Cow!! Who'd a thunk it! Mets sweep Yankees in four straight. With the struggles the Mets have had this season, this was quite unexpected. Another marvelous pitching performance, this time Dillon Gee shut down the Yanks with 12 k's and only 4 hits. Scott Rice and Bobby Parnell closed out the game from the bullpen, and Marlon Byrd's 2 run HR, second in two games, along with an RBI infield hit from John Buck provided just enuff offense. The Mets even GOT a break with Joba Chamberlain's wild pitch just prior to Buck's roller up the third baseline. Seeing these Mets provide solid games has been very nice. Of course, there always seems to be some gray news involving the Mets, this time it's a bit of a sore shoulder for Jonathan Niese. He will his Saturday start, replaced by Collin McHugh. Hoping this is a short term issue. On to Miami, Lets' go Mets!!

Yup Syam it is a beautfiul thing we really did sweep the Yankees last time was the first time in their rivalry that that the Mets swept the season series from them what a shot in the arm for the guys, the flight to Florida last night was pure party. Gee was magnificent and continued the fine pitching the last few weeks from our boys. Dillon understands that he was a strong contender to be moved to the pen if he did not improve he was told that could happen. With 12 strikeouts one of the most encouraging aspects of Gee's performance is that he seemed to get stronger in the middle innings a time when he has fell apart in the past. He was dominant on both sides of the plate and really had that slider working for him. But most impressive was how he challenged those Yankee batters with an aggression I had not seem in him since spring training. Not to be left out was he terrific job by Anthony Recker the two boys in sync and getting it done.

Maybe it was Jeff Wilpon’s bone headed remark to Rivera saying he doubts the Mets would be in the World Series with him. HUH WTF did he say that as a joke maybe to fire up the team or is he just that insensitive and stupid. In any event what has happened over the last week is that the boys are tired of all the criticism they had been not at all themselves in the clubhouse not much fun not much to say but over the last few days and there has been a big change with more excitement and feel god presence in the clubhouse. Thing is more than a few guys were starting to doubt their own abilities and credit has to be given to Terry Collins who recognized that and kept them positive tellin em never let yourself get down over and over and that my friends is a good manager. Terry also has been working extra hard with Ike in the cage spending a lot of time helping Ike.

As Syam mentioned Jonathon Niese will miss Saturday’s start with shoulder tendinitis. He couldn’t throw his normal between-starts bullpen session Wednesday but he is playing it down and expects to only skip one start. He had an MRI which showed tendinitis what ya may not know is that Dillon has been dealing with that for the last few starts. Collin McHugh will take Niese’s turn. This might have been a great time to bring Wheeler up but it’s pretty obvious they are waiting until after the Super 2 deadline to promote Zack, so look for June 15th as a better bet to see Wheeler’s major league debut. On wheeler Wally Backman continues to promote the kid as ready to pitch in the big leagues, Wally truly believes Zack is ready and that kids is more than enough for me. Zacks last four starts in a row where terrific.

Ike Davis did not play last night and I thought that was a good idea With Ike making progress we did not want him up against a tough lefty to make it difficult, not now. Ike’s progress has been slow but steady we see improvements in just about every at bat he has a lot of the problems figures out and about the only thing he is yet to fix is his timing and he is concentrating on that now. He is also under a lot less pressure with the feeling of himself figuring things out that along with tremendous encouragement from his manager hid dad and teammates and no more media guys attacking him at his locker after every game. So Ike was right in his strong feeling about not having to go to Vegas he kept saying no way, I can fix it here. I believed him but felt that all the pressure he was under was detrimental to his progress and maybe a short Vegas trip to clear his mind would be good for him but Ike said no he did not want to go and so we all backed off that idea. And so far so good and while he is clearly not out of the woods yet it’s looking really god that he is on his way back. Just Ike’s progress and seeing him happy and smiling again is a beautiful thing.

So I guess the Mets organization believes we fans are all a bunch of idiots and don’t think we could have handled bringing Zack Wheeler in from Vegas for just one game yesterday to fill in for Niese. They actually said they thought we fans would go berserk, bonkers, loose our minds if they brought Zack in and then sent him back after just one game, yes, they actually said that. Here’s the thing; all they had to do was put out a statement that read Zack Wheeler is going to pitch in just one game filling in for Jon Niese and then return to Vegas for two weeks until the Super-2 deadline at which time he will return to take his place in our starting lineup. That is how the Mets should have handles this and not treat is as if we are immature children which is what they did by giving the ball to Collin McHugh. I for one am extremely insulted that the Mets would prefer to lie to us rather than be honest about the real reason Zack did not pitch yesterday. Had they acted professionally treated us like adults and brought Zack in for the one game what would have happened is SNYs viewership would have soared for that game, the park in Florida would be full of Mets fans and probably a lot of Marlins fans as well to get a glimpse of our future. It would have been a treat for us fans, a win win for everyone. Oh…and we would not have lost yesterday’s game in such an embarrassing manner.
Why BS us like that who are they kidding? We know it is all about Super-2 when Wheeler would be eligible for salary arbitration a year early, costing the club more money, yeah we know that is something the Mets do not wanna do. Or as my mom would say “Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.”

Ike Davis moves up to the 6th spot today with Harvey on the mound.

Hey KB what do you think of the idea of having brought Zack up yesterday
