NY Mets 2015

Sorry to se the season end the way it did in Game 5 with Harvey going in for the ninth inning backfiring after pitching such a great game shutting the Royals on four hits going into the inning. I'm not going to take a position whether he should have come out or not, he wanted this and proved beyond all doubt to Mets fans and all baseball fans what a competitor and horse he is. Duda's throwing error compounded by Daniel Murphy's 12th inning error(his second costly error in consecutive games) really hurt as KC as always took advantage of every opportunity to take it to the Mets. KC deserves congratulations as a great opponent in winning the World Series again for the first time in 30 years.

I'm proud though of my Mets and though it hurt especially to see Daniel make those crucial errors, don't forget one of the biggest reasons we made the WS was Daniel's incredible performance in the first two playoff rounds. I just hate to see anyone have as their last image of Daniel, if he indeed does not re-sign with the Mets after going through free agency, those two really difficult to watch miscues. It's a little tough for me to accept Daniel's opposition to homosexuality though he has said he would never treat anyone gay without cavity and respect but he doesn't have the nasty demeanor of more visceral public figures who oppose gay rights. I think he's very much wrong but I did not appreciate seeing in some newspaper and internet articles responses celebrating his WS troubles. He's always been a humble person and even during the incredible highs of homering in seven straight games he never tried to hog the credit all for himself. He was interviewed after cleaning out his locker after the season and said asked how he was feeling that he was grieving. Not for himself so much as for his teammates and the letdown of the loss and possibly never putting on a Mets uniform again. It's the only organization he has ever known, and it's difficult to say goodbye. Whether he stays or goes I wish him well and hope with time he rethinks his position on gays.... there are homophobes who I can't wait to see brought down to size and getting some of their nastiness thrown back at them but I don't see Murph as that bad a person.

I have mixed feelings for David Wright... so glad he was proven right staying with the Mets after all those collapses and bad seasons and playing in a World Series, but I feel bad he didn't do much damage at the plate outside of game 3. I hope for his sake he gets another chance at the WS championship soon and with our pitching staff it does go a long way in helping that cause. There are few better examples of a good character person who represents the face and heart of the organization and it's great to see him come back from his very serious spinal stenosis diagnosis to show at least at times he can still be a strong contributing player.

Thrilled for Terry Collins that after a long baseball career both managing and doing minor league scouting/administrative work his first playoff ever resulted in a WS appearance. Terry's first two managerial stints with the Angels and Astros both ended badly because of his fiery, combative nature and his long minor league work did a lot in helping him develop ways to channel his intensity and passion much more constructively. The players love him and he is fiercely protective and supportive of his players and I'm so glad the Mets are bringing him back for two more seasons as manager.

I don't know if we'll ever see Sonny again around here but I'm sure he would be so happy even with the way things ended what an amazing ride we Mets fans lived through getting to the WS. Thank you Mets for a 2015 to remember... far more happy memories than sad. Soon we will be transitioning to Mets hot stove.... I don't know if there is going to be anyone interested with Sonny gone from here as far as I can tell but if you don't mind I'd like to get it going when the first official day of free agency signings start.

It was a disappointing end to a rather remarkable season, but we did get to the World Series!! Plenty of Mets achieved great things, pitchers learned what it takes to pitch at the MLB level, which can only make them better in the future. Some Mets will leave and the team will gain some new players. The present and future is bright! Haven't been able to say that in quite awhile. So as the Hot Stove league begins to catch fire, we'll see where it leads. Sausy, I'll try to check in from time to time especially as rumors and moves materialize. Enjoy this off season as National League Champions!!!

I'll look forward to it syam and you've hit the nail on the head exactly... we are now in a great position as opposed to years passed by. We still are National League champions and now our boys just have to keep the faith and working hard that we'll be in a very competitive position for years to come!
