Obama admits that he is a Muslim.

I'd tend to agree with Kuli, given religion is about what you choose to believe, I think you project a lot of evil on others while elevating yourself.

That's not healthy, and it explains your inexplicable judgment of countless others.

Back to the topic, racists clearly wanted Obama to be everything they projected on to him. Mariatenebre's unsubstantiated claims made against other religions are much the same.
They want to believe that people they irrationally dislike are 'bad' for reasons they believe are rational.

Instead of accepting they just demonize others without cause.

It is not a matter of elevating myself. It is that I know my enemies. I was raised Southern Baptist and the things I was taught in this religion were absolutely putrid. This religion taught that all disbelievers no matter how good or bad they were would be tortured in the next life, that women had to submit to men and must be denied the priesthood, that Yahweh let 9/11 happen because of gays, feminists etc. Ironically the same thing that the Muslims state. The preacher defended the genocides in the Bible and even child murder and basically had the divine command idea that if god wills it then it is right no matter how monstrous it appears to us. He compared his God to a sniper ready to shoot us with his judgement. That and that I actually bothered to read the Bible and Quran and see the negative things it teaches. Maya Angelou stated that when someone shows you who they really are believe them and I have studied the Bible and Quran and found that yes it's views are in line with these preachers, imams etc in their extremist views. It does me no good to be loyal to religions that want my head and has made it clear that they desire my destruction since their inception. As Breukelen Bleu stated one sided loyalty is for suckers.
That's where we differ from you. We don't have a Muslim prime minister, but we have Muslims in parliament. In fact, my elected MP (Member of Parliament) is a both a Muslim and an immigrant (Afghanistan), and she is a member of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's cabinet as Minister of Democratic Institutions.

Your hatred, along with Trump's and his supporters', keep racism and bigotry alive.

You do realize that Islam isn't a race right? While I don't think that we should be bigoted against all Muslims as not all Muslims follow the evil teachings of their religion it always bugs me how Liberals refer to hatred of Islam as racism when in reality there are Muslims and apostates of Islam of all races. Islam isn't even the original religion of the Arab peoples it is Arab Paganism.

I was raised Southern Baptist and … This religion taught that … women … must be denied the priesthood

Interesting. I never realized Southern Baptists had priests in their organization.

They call them preachers usually with the title Brother rather then Father but fundamentally both have the same functions. They do sermons etc.

Yeah, my whole family is Southern Baptist and I've never heard anyone say women were denied the "priesthood," that sounds way Mormon.

You do realize that the second term he used is bigotry which pretty much defines your comments on Muslims.

It's only when you are called on your bigoted shit that you make any concessions to moderation at all.

Preachers and priests are basically the same thing. Preachers are the Southern Baptist priests and women are still denied in most Southern Baptist sects of being Preachers.

I have always stated that while I decry the religion of Islam that not all Muslims adhere to the negative views of their religion. The problem is you consider any criticism of Islam as being criticism of all Muslims and the fact that correctly pointing to the doctrinal basis of Islamic terror is considered by you an attack on Islam rather then the lunacy of pretending that it is just politics and disenfranchisement when Muslims were doing terrorist attacks and stealing land from disbelievers as well as doing jihad and converting people by force long before the West was even involved.

You're sounding a lot like your old preachers on here.

The problem, going back to the Obama claims, is irrational intolerance of others and a willingness to paint the reason for hatred as being on irrational grounds.

Yeah, I've never heard of a Southern Baptist "priest." Women aren't allowed to be preachers, sure (Just like extremist Muslims and Jews) but your nomenclature choice doesn't sound at all Southern Baptist to me.

The problem is that in your bigotry you refuse to accept that the vast majority of Muslims aren't terrorists. You push that because you think that by pushing that you can get the rest of us to agree with your personal bigotry.

OH YEAH, you don't get to dismiss your initial bigotry by pretending after the fact that it wasn't exactly what you meant. If you think that not all Muslims are terrorists you'd have said that first, not whined about it after someone called you on it.

I usually use the term priest for all clergy people and preachers are basically the Baptist answer to a priest. They both do the same functions sermons, baptisms, weddings, funerals etc. A Rabbi is say a Jewish priest, a Imam is a Muslim priest etc.

Next I never stated that all Muslims are terrorists many are nice people. However it is also ludicrous to pretend that most Muslims namely in Islamic nations even while they would not do terrorism themselves have some extremist views. Also again why would I support a religion where my gender is denied ordination among other things?

I shouldn't have too I have stated many times before on different threads that I do not think that all Muslims are terrorists. The religion itself however advocated many terrorist ideas.

The ONLY time you say that not all Muslims are terrorists is when someone else demands you account for it.,

And NO, Southern Baptists refer to none of their clergy as "priests" that would be PAPIST!

If you grew up Southern Baptist, that must have been a long time ago.

It doesn't matter as I have stated that not all Muslims are terrorist. I am criticizing the ideology. I have maintained that not all Muslims or Abrahamics that matter are terrorists the religions themselves do promote terrorism. I have used this analogy before once I met a person who identified as a Nazi however he stated that he did not hate any race, was cool with gays, Jews etc. Wasn't against race mixing and even admitted that Hitler was wrong on many things. Now do I have to state not all Nazis just because some Nazis (granted much fewer then say the good Abrahamics who reject the negative teachings in their religion) might disagree with the negative things in their ideology and be Nazis in name only?

I know that Southern Baptists do not refer to their clergy as priests. I however tend to use priest as a catch all term to refer to the clergy of various religions because while the titles may differ the function is the same.

Yeah, and I'd be far more sympathetic if you were actually criticizing and ideology, and that may be what you tell yourself, but it's not what you are doing.

I am criticizing ideology. I have spoken about what the Islamic religion mandates and I can give chapter and verse as well.

No what you do is propose horror stories of extremists you apply to every Muslim then pretend that wasn't exactly what you meant when people who should be your allies call you on it.

There it is.

I have never applied it to every Muslim. I have criticized the actions of Muslim extremists and have shown how it goes back to the Quran, Hadith and Sunnah but I have never stated that all Muslims were terrorists.

OH come on, yes you do, you do that on a regular basis.

You know, I will stand by you and your right to live your reality until the fucking stars come crashing down. If someone wants to fuck you over for that - I am there, and I have your back.

But I am not going to agree, when you condemn entire swathes of humanity based on assumption.

That is exactly what you hate people for doing to you.

Similar, but not interchangeable. One is protestant. The other is Catholic.

I was born into the Baptist faith back in the 50s. I've been Baptist my entire life. I have never heard a Baptist minister called a 'priest'. Even Baptist ministers (or preachers, if you wish) would not be allowed to join the priesthood unless they became Catholic, and even then I don't know the rules behind that situation.
