This whole thing seems very strange.

Even though his grandmother is supposedly so gravely ill he can't wait 14 days to visit her, Obama is staying in Florida to campaign today (very important state for him), then cancelling two dates in Wisconsin and Iowa (not worrisome states for him) on Thursday and adding one on Thursday in Indianapolis before flying to Hawaii.

I've felt the need to rush to gravely ill loved ones, and when I cancel important events to be with them I don't also add new events that extend my absence from them.

I had no trouble understanding that what was quoted after "1)" was one quote and after "2)" was another quote. If I hadn't known that, I wouldn't have looked it up.
