Obama's Aprroval Rating At All-Time Low

I'm not familiar with the U.S. health care reform; so what is it in a nutshell about the reform that's compromising Obama's approval rating?

Ignorance and lies. People are believing the absolute shitstorm of lies coming from the same people who told them that Obama wanted to kill their grandmothers.

The truth is that insurance premiums will drop almost across the board, that those who cannot afford insurance will be enrolled in the national exchange with a significant subsidy, up to and including full payment, that it will save the nation trillions of dollars- that's trillions, with a T- and that it is good for literally everyone, even those with existing insurance.

Here's a collection of non-partisan analyses (apparently I can't post links yet, I'll have to post it broken): dubyadubyadubya dot slate.com/id/2220222/

Some of those are pretty concise and can be grokked in a minimum of time.

The Republicans tried to turn health care reform into President Obama's Waterloo, in their words, and instead it turned into theirs. So now they're screaming lies at the top of their lungs, and unfortunately a mass of people are buying into it. We'll see what happens when people get a chance to see the changes take effect and the sky does not, in fact, come crashing down on their heads.

Those who mention race have a huge point. Hard to imagine so many people being so willing to believe OPEN lies without some underlying desire for a reason to hate.

Premiums will drop? That's someone's optimistic hypothesis.

Those who cannot afford insurance will be required to pick from the existing companies. And even when their choices are fully subsidized, they still may not be able to afford anything, because of this thing called the deductible: the amount you have to pay out of your own pocket, every year. Then there's the co-pay: the amount you have to pay per visit, every time.

Good for those with existing insurance? You know what my existing insurance is doing, thanks to Obama and the Democrats kissing the asses of the insurance companies? My premiums may be staying the same, but my deductibles are going up across the board -- for medical, for dental, for prescriptions, for lab work. And my co-pays are getting jacked up, too.

So what's going to happen is that people will have to go through the hassle of getting insurance with money they don't have before they can qualify for the subsidy, and then they won't be able to use it because they don't have any more money for going to the doctor than they did before. And what happens when they go to the emergency room? Well, when they had no insurance, they were often eligible for aid that could potentially cover the whole bill. But when you go in with insurance, you're expected to pay your part -- period.

As a result, a lot of people will be getting worse health care, thanks to this law.

People are very upset over the passage of the health care bill, but I don't understand why.

From my understanding, the health care bill has been more of Miss Pelosi's work than Obama's.

...And Obama will throw her under the bus, if he needs to, before it is all over with.

I would blame the unemployment rate first.
Racism plays a small part, But it is an over simplification of the problems we are facing.
If you want to blame color, It is all about the color of money- Green.

You are so right, Chuck! It's the color of money.....Green.....and the fact that way too many people are jobless. And underemployed.
