Obama's Winning Because He's Not White!

You're the one that made the claim, so you have to provide the proof. I'm not going to argue your case for you and the very fact that you are asking me to suggests that you can't argue it on your own.

And I could take 30 minutes or so to do some research on some specific dates, comments, and who said what ... compile a nice long list of Clinton attacks against Obama ... post them here ... and what would it accomplish? Is anyone going to change their vote because of it? No. So what really is the purpose? The lines are already drawn. Things will stay as they are.

Now, if you'll excuse me ... I need to get back to watching Lost.

First let me say that I think that Geraldine Ferraro was insensitive in the way she approached the subject, however, I must give some credence to what she had to say. I won't argue that if Obama was white he wouldn't be where he is today ( politically ) because he obviously has some great oratory skills and great ambition and furthermore has done great things for his community.

With that said, something i saw on the ny times webpage comes to mind....I think it was during the SC primary. They were going around asking people to give 30 second testimonials of who they voted for and why and there was a young black woman they interviewed. She spent about 25 seconds describing how Hillary Clinton was everything she wanted in a candidate and how great Hillary is...and at the last few second she said "but i didn't vote for Hillary, I voted for Obama...::with a smile on her face:: for my own 'personal' reasons" It was obvious that she meant that she voted for Obama because he was black even though she thought Clinton the better candidate. This irritated me to no end.

I don't mind if your an avid Obama supporter...I think hes a great man, a great candidate, and maybe will be a great POTUS. But support him for his message, his views and his policy not his race. I really hope that the 90something percent margin of black voters hes getting aren't simply voting for him "for their own personal reasons" but rather because they've made a wise educated choice...unlike the previous young lady.

but if like that young lady, a majority of black voters are voting for barack simply because he is black then Ms. Ferraro was correct in her theory. Mr. Obama would not be where he is today if he weren't black because those black voters would have been more contested and Hillary would have won in SC and many of the southern states where Obama has done well.

my two cents

And I agree with that. It goes both ways and those are the wrong reasons to vote for a candidate.

But the problem is that the same can be said for the Feminists ... male and female ... who are voting for Hillary and essentially are doing the same thing that young lady was doing ... voting for her for personal reasons ... with a wink and a nod.

That's why the White Men will have to be the deciding factor in this election.

Point taken and conceded. However, since we are talking about Geraldine...I think she said something about herself not getting the nomination for VP in 84 had she been a man...so i think she recognizes the advantages/disadvantages that come with being something other than a white man. she was still insensitive in the manner she spoke, too bad cuz the media has had a field day with what i think is a legit concern. on both sides black and feminist.
