Occupy Wall Street

Kulindhar's multiple responses to my post seem a little bitter and over the top. This is why I tend to avoid JUB...with some notable exceptions, there is a conspicuous paucity of gentlemen in the Current Events and Politics Section. You post a cartoon without comment because it speaks for itself and you get called "ignorant" and "shallow" and "hateful".

I would never insult him. He would probably win a pissing contest against me, as his penis is most likely bigger than mine.

Some people, both in these "protests", and even online, have way too much time on their hands.

Anyone who's been paying attention to the protests knows that picture had nothing at all to do with what was going on. It was a cheap deception put together with the intent to fool the non-thinking into being critical of something they hadn't bothered to learn anything about. It's the very same thing the FRC does to gays all the time, and I found it disgusting that anyone here would fall for it.

I won't comment on the "ignorant" "shallow" and "hateful" accusation, because I can't find the post it's based on, except top say that anyone familiar with the issue would see it as shallow and hateful with less than a second's consideration.

And yet, here you are. You contributed to a topic with questionable arguments that you were called out on. There's no need to cry "Martyr!" as an excuse to not reply back to rebuttals written in response to your posts. You can always just... not reply, leave the discussion, and go back to the Fun & Games forum.

and why are things like the egyptian protests called "democratic" but the occupy wall street protesters are "unpatriotic"?

The people at these rallies have every right to peacefully protest. I don't know of anyone that is against this. However, when they take over public right-of-ways like major bridges shouting "take the bridge" it no longer becomes a peaceful protest.

Corny, the USA is a democratic country. We peacefully elect our politicians, we have 3 divisions of government that work separately and yet together. When people want to overthrow a democracy to put something else in place whatever that is they haven't said -- it's not really democratic.

I guess if they wanted to change the government we have a system in place where they can peacefully change things -- it's called elections. We have them on a regular basis.

But I must admit, I haven't heard that occupy wall street wants to overthrow your democracy. Got any sources?

If they just want to change "the system" without abolishing democracy, then it is surprising that the riot police was sent after them, considering that the Boston demonstrations where peaceful as far as I can tell from our news sources, no rioting involved. I guess that is where the question about freedom of assembly comes from.

Funny, I don't remember you saying the same things when the Tea Party was demonstrating, and disrupting meetings between Congressmembers and their constituents, or when Tea Baggers got elected to Congress and refused to work with each other or the other branches of government, choosing instead to disrupt the system of government we have and making it completely dysfunctional.

Evidently these people are hard of hearing and cannot understand clear messages from the police. They were told they could stay in the one park but not in the other because of the expensive replanting of the park.
