Occupy Wall Street

And yet you're defending people that chose to go to a school that cost twice what you're talking about. The education at Columbia or NYU is not substantively different than at a SUNY school. The only difference is the name on the diploma. For choosing that, they have no right to complain about having 50% more debt than if they chose to go to SUNY.

Um.. People are still going into huge amounts of debt when they do go to a state school. I dunno about NY, but in the UNC system education (financial aid, grants, scholarhsips) has gone through huge cuts while the price of tuition raises year after year. So even if someone does go to a state school they can end up with a large amount of debt. And I'm only talking about an undergraduate degree.

This isn't about freaking people asking for handouts, it's about ending the corruption of the wealthy in our government! As simple as that!

Thank you Mr Obama. Now, do something about it.

I think it's healthy for people to protest on both sides of our parties. I have no objections, as long as people keep discussing their issues vs. turning to personal attacks.

I wonder how long though it will take the media to come up with a bigoted, deragatory name for these Americans. At least they definitely have given them more slack than those on the right.

I went to the 'occupy wall street' protest last night.

They have basically destroyed the park they are staying at.

The have painted graffiti all over the benches, trees and sidewalks. There is litter everywhere. The park reeks of urine and crap.

The people that live in these condition (that they have created) are your heroes?????

The French Revolution burned down the Bastille and ripped the statues of saints from Notre Dame. Cluny Abbey, La Chartreuse Monastery, and countless other buildings were destroyed.

Today, France celebrates that destruction as a national holiday.

You complain about grafitti and urine.

Evidently, that is more important to you than liberty and equality.

jesus christ.. this place is an echo chamber for GOP bullshit and radical conservative propaganda.

These are original upswelling of descent by the people that KNOW they are going to be stuck fixing the shit going on RIGHT NOW.

The government has overspent itself by 8 treillin in the last ten years, tax breaks went to the wealthy, they took the cash and ran as the middle class payed for unending warfare.

They are fed up and frankly so am I, and not just with the idiots that are running cover for the most egregiously immoral americans alive today, but for the simple fact that this is NOT now america was designed to be. It simply wasn't.

The concentrated wealth of a very small minority is one reason amongst so many, why democracy exploded 250 years ago in its modern form to get rid of that concentration.

no what offends me the most about the nasty turn of atmosphere around here is the abject intellectual dishonestly.

If the poor people have no money the rich people cannot get richer. Capitalism boys. It REQUIRES a healthy middle class to work.

Bush destroyed capitalism when he handed the keys to the kingdom to corporate america, and the tea party caucus is playing games while these college kids are losing funding for their education and having to fight tooth and nail to get a job sweeping up at the grocery store.

Reality check.

this place has turned into a GOP twilight zone.

I am not living in a pigsty. They are.

If they think it is a good idea to live in a pigsty with grafitti, crap and urine everywhere, I dont want to hear their other ideas.

John Stewart skewering the Tea Party hypocrisy was awesome!

It's just like the typical 'conservative' these days -- law and order, putting people in their places, insisting everyone be sheep, are the great virtues. It doesn't matter if the laws make sense, or are just, or violate the Constitution; it doesn't matter if the people are talented, and could help improve the country; it doesn't matter that the whole point of America was greater individual liberty -- they want a tidy authoritarian society that adheres to their notions of what it ought to look like.

To you JUB 'conservatives', your side is looking no different that the greenie liberals in Oregon's urban areas who have fashioned a system where rural folks are basically serfs whose function is to make the countryside fit some 'ecological' wet dream.

Glad to know you disapprove of George Washington and his loyal patriots at Valley Forge.

According to the good general's journals, soldiers "shat on the ground" beside their tents and crawled back in. By a number of accounts, they carved graffiti on the trees.

You'd be in Boston, a traitor having nice tidy tea with the oppressors.

Biden commented...

Vice President Joe Biden also weighed in, comparing the protesters to the origins of the tea party, a grassroots political movement that has advocated reductions in government spending and efforts to curb corruption.
"What is the core of that protest? And why is it increasing in terms of the people it's attracting?" Biden asked rhetorically. "The core is the bargain has been breached with the American people."

I'd say dead on target. Until people go back to work, Every politician of every persuasion is subject to getting kicked to the curb.

You kick 'em. Bammer will pee on 'em.

working on unseating Mr Brown. ..|

Ms. Warren will take him easily. I've been watching Commonwealth politics for a long time, and She is precisely the kind of person this state likes to put in office. Its going well.

The poll, conducted by University of Massachusetts-Lowell and the Boston Herald, shows Democrat Warren polling at 38 percent, trailing Brown’s 41 percent. However, the margin of error is 3.8 percent, meaning the two presumptive contenders are virtually tied.

Warren officially declared her candidacy September 14. A survey by the Democrat-affiliated Public Policy Polling group less than a week after she declared showed a surge of support for Warren, pinning her two points above Brown — also within the margin of error. Brown, however, was spotted in the halls of Congress expressing shock and unhappiness at Warren’s poll gains.

Brown is going away. The congress will not stay in the hands of the GOP, and at this point I am leaning towards thinking they may be losing both houses at this point, although I would have doubted that just a few months back.

http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/03/opinion/sracic-obama-clinton/

Thats about the president, champ.

I am talking about the congress. The congress and the president have not worked together, and it was intentional at the expense of the nation.

You cannot blame or believe obama has failed without also blaming the GOP that has obstructed him.

The white house is up for grabs still because frankly, there is no one out there on the other side that can survive the primary and win a general election. That is something else entirely.

Obama should be dead in the water at this point and the only thing saving him is the abject disgust america has right now for the GOP antics in the house of reps.

They will loose the house of reps, and they MAY lose the senate. Obama OUGHT to loose the white house, but its likely that the GOP is too firmly lodged on the teat of corporate america to pull off an easy win during an extended recession.

If Obama simply stands back and lets the GOP defend the corps as they demonize the angry mobs, he will win by default.
