**Official Final Debate Thread**

After studying, re-watching the debates, and watching the Frontline biography on McCain AND Obama, I've finally decided who I will vote for. I cannot wait until November 4th!!

^ Congratulations. Obama will make a great President. LOL.

I've seen that clip, Midnight. It was done specifically to show how some McCain supporters feel about Obama; it wasn't done to show how they feel about McCain. But there are also pieces out there showing ecstatic people chanting "JOHN - MAC - CAIN! JOHN - MAC - CAIN!"

After all,, he was a P.O.W.

I missed you during the debate Kuli.......was looking forward to hearing your thoughts along the way.

She's certainly a classy lady. I like her even more now that she has thrown her support 100% behind Obama. This proves that she truly cares about the Democratic party winning the election and knows what disastrous consequences there will be if the Republicans remain in the White House come 2009. She has strong character, speaks well, has passion, and I admire that.

One thing I like about what Hillary said was damage control.
Do the arithmetic, and this much is clear: with budget surpluses of the size Clinton apparently had, it will take the next president of two terms, the following one of two terms, and the next, to undo the damage this president has done.

There are still a lot of people who don't get that and want to actually maintain status quo by voting for the party that got us into this mess!! Republicans are always talking about smaller government and fiscal responsibility, then proving that all they know is the opposite of it.

Of the two, I'd have to pick Obama for fiscal hope. McCain doesn't seem to have any concept that all the military action he wants costs money -- probably more money than China has to loan us, even.

McCain's total lack of grasp of not just Obama's, but his own economic policies certainly didn't provide any confidence. Sitting there and lying about Obama's plan when Obama had given the facts was a huge blow to his credibility not just as a potential CIC, but as anything above dog catcher.

Twenty-five years: that's the number we have to remember; with the current economy, and the projections, we will need twenty-five years to pay off the debt accumulated under Bush II. As a Libertarian, I have to concede that there is no libertarian solution* to the mess we've gotten into, at least that I can find. That leaves us with base principles, which at this point say that since the wealthy have the most to lose, the wealthy have the obligation to deal with this.

* There's the oft-proposed auction of federal lands, which indeed could provide help, and which I favor -- with sufficient parameters.

Pride certainly goes before a fall.

Let's stay focused people. Don't become complacent or arrogant. Make sure you're at the polls on Election Day.

So true :=D:

Thanks for keeping us in line ..|

Also, I noticed how McCain air quoted the health of a pregnant woman the second time i watched the debate. Despicable. How i missed that the first time I do not know. That alone should drown the man. Thanks for mentioning that as no one else did.

With regard to making sure people vote, on a graffiti board by a bike path in Corvallis, Oregon a few elections back, someone had painted, quite colorfully and artistically, "Move your asses and vote!"

At what time through the debate did McCain do that? I'm not certain I recall it; I was taking notes sometimes and missed a few actions.

Dang.

I see what was in his mind, but however much he might have some justification for trying to show how that's been a catch-phrase, he just insulted every woman in the country.
I know gals who were raped, who thought it through and went out and bought a gun to protect themselves with afterwards, who would be furious enough to be itching to pull that gun on him for this.
What would he do if Obama had finger-quoted "patriotism" in connection with the G.O.P.? There's a good reason for doing so, but that pales before the fact that he would have just insulted multiple millions of Americans, as McCain did.

The man just wasn't all there last night -- and that seems to be a more and more frequent occurrence. He scares me because of his fervent belief that freedom can be guarded by a police state -- but a man slipping into senility at the head of it is beyond imagination.

I am sorry but this was a fucked up on McCains part. Why isn't the health of the mother a legitimate concern?

That's not what he meant.

He was expressing the belief that some women and their doctors would use "health of the mother" as an official reason for a late term abortion when it's not the real reason. The"real" reason being that she just doesn't want to have a baby and she put off the decision until late in her pregnancy.

I'm not defending his gesture or even what he intended to say, but he wasn't saying what you attribute to him.
