You can't do anything about your own situation but you can support the future generations in a fight against babies having pointless surgery done on them.

Its about extending the concepts of rights and freedoms to young children.

But see, my whole point, though, is this 'argument' is based on matters of opinion. I'm not really standing for one opinion or the other, but some people view circumcision as a pointless surgery and some people view it as a needed surgery. Which, again, brings me back to my whole point. What you think is wrong or unnecessary may not be wrong or unnecessary to someone else.

And there are some people who DO choose to become circumcised as adults for LOTS of reasons. Some esthetic, some medical, some based on self-esteem alone. But whatever their reason, it's important to them whether or not it's important to everyone else.

I fail to see the difference btwn a parent choosing to have their child cut and choosing to have a cleft palate corrected, putting braces on their child's teeth, having a weird birthmark removed, correcting a lazy eye and the like.

that's something more or less medically necessary or life-improving things that need to be done at that age.

Also, when a hermaphrodite is born, it's common for the parents to choose the gender of the baby (when it's medically sound to do so) and the "extra" organs are cut

and that my lady is terribly, terribly wrong. if you ever talked to a hermaphrodite your probably would think different - at least i hope so.

Female circumcision? yes. (There aren't very many women who vehemently oppose male circumcision; in fact, most of them seem to prefer it)

I'd never go around insisting that everyone should be cut, but the other side makes this crusade of it, wanting everyone else to be just like them. Weird, I say.

But then, the Muslims are all cut, as well as the Jews. So, it isn't just a way to "question authority".

Not sure what's going on with this debate, but it reminds me of the abortion one. Each side is hot and bothered, hates the other. But shouldn't it just be "what works for you"?

What I was objecting to was the cultural bullying in this thread. I don't think it's right that European or Latin cultures are deciding for us what is right and what is wrong.

yep - EVERYBODY should have the chance to decide for himself what is right and wrong - even children, since circumcision is not a decision that NEEDS to be done at a young age.

In the case of female (and male) circumcision, I just don't think it's right that one culture is deciding what is right for another.In the case of female circumcision, you have mightier-than-thou Westerners telling Muslims the difference between right and wrong.

female circumcision is FORBIDDEN in many of the states where it is practiced.

last year several religious muslim leaders signed a "fatwa" (something like a religious order) that female circumcision is a felony, and not supported by the coran at all. if this mutilation still sounds like something to you where we should keep our mouthes shut, maybe i should show you some pictures of the procedure, and the results? on the other maybe it's hard to understand that female circumcision is wrong - in any country where infant male circumcision still is considered "normal" and "right". but believe me .. although i don't like the sound of me saying that - there is quite a HUGE difference between a female and a male circumcision ..

So many of you are (deliberately?) completely missing the point: most of the anti-circ guys are mainly only anti circumcision being performed on non-consenting babies for no valid reason. I personally couldn't really care less what form of cosmetic surgery an adult might choose to have done. A guy can bi-furcate his dick for all I care, but I don't think he should do that to his kids.

yep .. my thoughts exactly, but the other point that gets me pretty angry is the people spreading the myth here that all uncuts are "dirty" or need to be "taken to the shower" first .. if you need to take an uncut guy to shower first, you would need to do the same if he were cut, since he would be "dirty" either way.

I wouldn't know how to go about it personally.. Mine was done when I was just 8 days old, infront of a large crowd of jews, and a special rabbi called a moyle (or moyel?) did the lil snip after giving me a little bit of alcohol to kinda knock me out a lil and grape juice.. After that they all celebrated and had lots of food and said their congratulations to my parents.. Like any jewish ceremony.

There were some blessings involved too of course!

They call this a Bris, I personally can't stand them, I get grossed out. I wouldn't want the tradition to stop by any means! But I would really much rather it be more discrete then having it done infront of an audience. Babies have feelings too! Granted, no one remembers jack shit of their own bris. I'm only reciting what my mom told me.

Thankfully! My parent's were not crazy enough to tape the damn thing.

They did take lots of pictures of my balls as a baby.. That was all. They found it funny that they were so big, and that I wasn't able to close my legs for a while...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so here is mine. I was circumcised at birth, mom said no and dad said yes. I don't remember it nor do I want to. I never knew that I had been circumcised till I saw an uncut penis when I was about 12 on the internet. It all made sense when I saw that picture that I was missing something but I never really gave it much thought until a few year later. I began to put it all together when I began having numerous problems with my penis. All of the good health reasons for circumcision may or may not be valid but in my case, many are invalid. I have had urinary tract infections all my life. I developed something similar to phimosis due to my circumcision scar tightening up around my penis ( my scar is half way down my penis) and had to have that corrected twice and it still is tight. A similar situation happened at the base of my glans also with it tightening and I had to have that worked on also and it is now worse. I have no penile shaft skin on the underside of my penis, it is all scrotal skin being pulled up my shaft. When my frenulum was removed, the doctor cut into my urinary opening and it has never healed properly and it bleeds and burns all the time. I can not have and have not had sex because I have extremely painful erections due to all the scar tissue buildup and lack of skin which has also shortened my penis tremendously. I have had yeast infections since I was born, my penis smells and I have to keep wet wipes in my pocket to wipe it off when I go to the bathroom so the odor doesn't offend people. On the rare ocassions that I masterbate, I always tear some skin in the process and then for about a week I have to wrap it in ointment and gauze to keep from bleeding all over my pants. I have been to numerous urologist and plastic surgeons in many different cities and all of them have said that all of my problems are attributed to an inproper and over-aggressive circumcision. No one has yet to tell me if they can or are able to help me out. I am miserable and in pain all the time. I will not circumcise my son because I do not want him to go through what I have been through. If you want to do it for religious reasons, that is your choice. If you are uncut and now want to be uncut, that is you decision. I guess what I am trying to say is that don't believe everything you hear. It may prevent something or cure something but it may not be true for everyone. I wonder though how many circumcised men have had or have the same problems I do and what they did to help them. I am at the end of my rope and about to give up. It just isn't worth it anymore, I would rather be uncut or a have a sex change.

That was a hard video to get through. I've always been against circumcision. It's not my nor anybody else's right to order the procedure performed on another human being.

Most medical procedures are hard to watch.
So BFD.
I can't watch the vanity plastic surgery shit where they stretch someones face out like Gene Simmons had on his A&E show as he got a face lift.

Not the actual event, no, but even though their scars may fade, and their exposed penis heads and remnants of prepuce will dry out, get scaly, and shrivel, they’ll be able to see the physical results, the markings of the occasion, several times a day for the rest of their lives.

In all my life, I've never heard of a cut man getting a yeast infection; indeed, there would be no place for the infection to collect.

It's called a botched circumcision. That's obviously impossible with adult circumcisions.

Why that? It's still surgery - which *always* bears a risk.

All those are no "complications" so any doctor can say there are no complications, you are fine

Reduced incidence of penile cancer,
Reduced incidence of phismosis and infections associated with the prepuce,
Reduced risk of STI/HIV transmission,
Reduced incidence of cervical cancer in female partners (HPV may be carried in the foreskin and be passed on to the partner... I bet there's a reduced incidence of anal cancer among gay males too, but I haven't read any research on that)

Currently the major pediatric societies don't recommend for or against circumcision, however comments that there are no medical benefits are simply ignorant.

Oh yeah. things are at epedemic status from all those uncircumcised penises in Europe. Give me a fucking break. God(nature) created it with a protective covering so why the fuck are we taking it off?!? People get so upset with female circumcision in other countries, but cut off thousands of nerve endings and a protective sheath on a man and thats A-okay. Sounds idiotic to me.
