Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Whatever the cost, I'm surprised at how many dicks still end up looking like they were circed by a drunken blind man wielding a badly sharpened machete. #-o

^ First Rule. Always hide the Manischewitz when the Mohel is coming over. Until after he's done his work.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

And no, it is not about sacrificing your foreskin or parents scarring their infant son for life...it is literally about the outrageous costs quoted by a US hospital for a procedure that could be done on your kitchen table (if you're the kind of sick fuck who would do that).

$23,000

http://commonhealth.wbur.org/2011/08/the-saga-of-the-23000-circumcision-3/

You definitely don't want to get your infant's pecker skin hacked off at Massachusetts General if your bargain savvy.

Your local mohel will likely do the whole schmear for about $1500.00 including anaesthesia for the squeamish.

Me believes circumcision to be a barbaric out-dated religious act. Keep the peen intact! I love an uncut guy. ..|

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Wow, $23,000?

I would become a self appointed rabbi and do it for $1000.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Ha ha ha.

It wasn't about the rightness or wrongness of circumcision.

It is about exposing that the US healthcare system is just rapacious....who cares if it covered by insurance? The fact is, the American consumer is paying way too much for some procedures and along the way, it is likely overhead and administration costs that represent the lion's share.

Its not about paying too much.
Its about white collar crime.

To cut a skin off for $23,000 is a robbery.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Uh.

I think I actually made the point that one shouldn't consider Mass General.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

I saw the hospital bill from when I was born. My circumcision cost $36. This was in 1985.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

I've been saying for like 20 years - that it's all about the FEES !!!
even tho the AMA published some paper about it being "unnecessary" in the late 90's (I believe).

It's the same with booster shots for your dog the Vet tells you the dog needs boosters EVERY year.. There is more than 20 years of research that prooves that they do not -- after ONE booster - a year after the last puppy shot - they are most likely protected for life !! Only Rabbies needs to be re-done every 3 years ! yet the vets charge you $28.00 for a booster that costs them $3.00 - and they say they can't give it without an "exam" so they listen to the dogs heart, check his teeth and gums, and charge you another $48.00 for a wellness exam...
You see how it works?

sidebar: I'm always amazed by the specific absence of some JUBBERS who don't express an opinion here..
not so much this thread in particular - as it was about the "costs" - but in so many of the others regarding pros/cons of doing the deed !

Lastly >>> MOLTENROCK - you def ROCK !!

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Maybe if more medical surgeries charged such ridiculous prices for this, fewer idiot parents would subject their infant sons to this redundant practice. IMO.:soapbox:

Amen to that!

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Here in Spain The public healthcare does for free. Of course is not a masive practice, but actually a lot of men are doing it.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

People who say it's unnecessary, I should point out that keeping the penis clean is much easier when you're uncircumcised, and that's very important to a lot of people.

Also, why does it bother so many people what others do with their children? I haven't heard anyone going through life long psychological trauma because they were or weren't circumcised, yet an anti circumcision thread pops up every month here. Sure there is a small risk of infection but that's the case with any cosmetic surgery, and the reason why it's done when they're an infant as apposed to an adult is because it's going to be a much more complicated and painful process when you're old enough to get erections, so if it's going to be done, when you're an infant is the best time.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

I have kids, and my first is uncut, my second is cut. My first constantly has issues keeping it clean. I'm cut so I have no idea what to tell him to do.

You can quote any of a thousand doctors for either side. One side says no benefits, genital mutilation. The other side says lessens the chance of contracting diseases.

Yes it sucks to make that decision for an infant. I agonized over it.

I still think I made the right decision for my second son. If i have another, I will do the same. Vilify away.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

I don't understand why people consider circumsision as a "cosmetic", "aesthetic" or "hygienic" only procedure. Some people already said that they were circumsized as adults due to more or less serious medical conditions, or accidents (i had to be circumsized due to the fact that the foreskin tore apart a couple times - which is very painful).

And why do people treat parents like monsters if they get their child circumsized? Last I checked, none of you know if there is a congenital condition that'd make the surgery necessary, or maybe the parents care about accidents (like mine), or hygiene, and don't care about aesthetics!!

Stop behaving like you're an all-knowing, almighty savior of the foreskin, what difference does it make in your life!!

Ahh. Well, some adults need to have their appendix taken out due to not just a medical condition, but a medical emergency. Nobody thinks it would be reasonable to do appendectomies on babies just in case they might need it later. The "just in case" argument doesn't make any sense because there are billions of men with foreskins that are enjoying them trouble-free every day. They don't wake up and think "oh why didn't my parents get rid of this when i was a baby" because they're happy with everything and it works just fine.

Guys who want to be circumcised can get what they want.
Guys who want to be uncircumcised can get what they want, if their parents respect their bodies.
Only guys who have the choice taken from them by their parents are at risk. Some are happy because their parents got lucky and guessed the right choice to make. Others are unhappy because they would have made a different choice or would at least have wanted the choice, even if they are okay with being cut.

It is ridiculous to say it is just a piece of skin that makes no difference in your life. If that was true then there should be no problem just leaving it there, because by your own argument it doesn't matter. But it does matter. And the fact that people get so worked up about having the right to slice it off somebody else's body is the real problem. Nobody has that right except the person himself, unless there is a serious medical reason that forces the doctors to act. It is the parents who need to stop behaving like they are all-knowing and almighty owners of their son's foreskins as though they have the right to do what they feel like with it. It's not theirs.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

I had my circumcision done when I was 15. I do not care what anyone says but what a relief! I constantly had irritation and burning sensation under the skin due to sweating or pre cumming after getting excited during the day. I was constantly cleaning but it did not matter, as soon as I was either in class, or school bus trips (when due to the movement and shaking of the bus I would have a hard on) I would have more to clean. I could not pee without getting burning sensation there and eventually in urinary tract. Being circumcised was the most helpful steps my parents took when I was 15. Praise God for that.

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

I'm trying to "hold my tongue" - but what makes you think that "cut" boys don't get raging hard-on's all the time- bus or no bus !!

and, last time I checked, the skin is on the OUTSIDE, how did this have anyting to do with that "burning sensation"???

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

People who say it's unnecessary, I should point out that keeping the penis clean is much easier when you're uncircumcised, and that's very important to a lot of people.

Likewise, men who were circumcised as infants almost always have pubic hair pulled up onto their shaft that can reach 1/2 way up. It makes it less appealing to give oral sex with stubble from those guys that shave, which takes more effort and time. Uncut guys don't face this.

See how ridiculous discussing such nonsense appears when turned back on you?

Re: The High Cost of Circumcision

Wait... I meant to see keeping it clean is easier when you ARE circumcised. When you're uncut, all those juices and moisture are marinating under that foreskin and it gets really stinky and putrid. It just makes means a person who is uncut is going to have to spend extra time keeping it clean, and the only way to really do that and keep it smell free is using an antibacterial soap in the shower. Regular soap or body wash with water will not work.

Either way, I didn't understand your argument MoltenRock. How does pubes have anything to do with it?
