Re: Why do you hate circumcision?

Johann,

I didn't mean to put words into your mouth. I intended with my post to say that you were responding to someone else's points - but looking back at my post, that may not have been clear.

Sorry

Re: Why do you hate circumcision?

You can't "miss" something you never had, and while it's certainly possible to wistfully imagine life with a foreskin, such ridiculous depressive imagery and emotion is not normal.

okay -this is bullshit -- I can and DO miss things I never had !! I am not emotionally damaged, I am not depressed, or on medication , I am me - and you can't tell me or anybody else what they can't miss - and that they're ridiculous for doing so.

three examples:

1. My Mother - (died before I could walk) therefore I have no memory of her - but I still miss her.

2. My foreskin !! (self-explanatoy)

3. My absentee father. (need i go on?)

I can recall as a toddler trying to push the head of my penis back into the penis to cover it.

I too, did this continuously - and my aunt that raised me has told many stories about how difficult it was to keep my hand out of my diapers --
after 3-4 years old - I continued to do it it all the time !! maybe my genetic memory told me it was supposed to be enclosed, somehow. I certainly had no way of "knowng" I was 'different". It was more than penis play- as a susbsitute for thumb sucking, for example, it was always something that wasn't right (to me) and even as a preteen I still had no way to "fix" it.

and i'm sure there are more than 2 people who ever did that.

this thread is so typical - the OP starts something then disappears -- and no longer has anything constructive to say -- what a surprise!!

^ Or...

Circumcision, circumcision...
Cocaine & Vodka.

Re: Why do you hate circumcision?

Unless there is a compelling reason why I should circumcise my kids, I will not consent to it.

Just as I would not drag my kid down to the doctors to have his appendix removed if there's nothing wrong with it, or tonsils removed if they're not a problem.

I used to do this all the time!! It wasn't until I saw it in this thread I made the connection haha. I think it very ell could be a subconscious thing. That's weird.

California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

(CNN) -- California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Sunday a bill that prevents local governments from banning the practice of male circumcision.

The legislation comes in response to an effort this summer by a San Francisco Bay Area advocacy group opposed to the practice to get a measure proposing a citywide ban added to the November 8 city ballot.

In July, a Superior Court judge ordered the proposed measure removed from the ballot, saying that male circumcision is "a widely practiced medical procedure" and that medical services are left to the regulation of the state, not individual cities.

The legislation signed Sunday, which takes effect immediately, prohibits governments at the local or county level from "restricting the practice of male circumcision" and "declares that the laws affecting male circumcision must have uniform application throughout the state."

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

We can finally close the books on this silly nonsense!

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

So sad that a state legislature had to waste their valuable time dealing with this ridiculous issue.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

Even as an uncut guy, I think this is sensible, since not all males are born with the perfect prepuce, if it causes a medical problem, it should be dealt with by a medical practioner, not a lawmaker.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

I am very anti-circ yet never really supported the san francisco circ ban. This restricts jews and muslims from practicing their religion but I never really cared about those people anyway so more power to them. People WILL DO WHATEVER....
NOTICE I WAS GOING TO TYPE A REALLY REALLY NASTY REPLY TO THIS THREAD BUT TO AVOID DEBATE AND TO SEEM MORE CIVIL I WILL BE NICE TODAY =)

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

I want someone to make history and be the first to sue their parents for circumcision. My parents are lucky I like them.

They would lose the hell out of that law suit, you know. You might as well sue you parents for getting you vaccinated. It causes you pain, supposedly protects you against problems you probably wouldn't experience anyway, and isn't a choice for a child. Oh, but wait, vaccines are okay and circumcision isn't. Oh well.

Just checking.

The only difference is the cosmetic aspect, which is hardly a gaping hole.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

I see it as undermining the parent whether it is for religious reasons or not.... But this topic has been fought over and over. So I will just take a front row seat for this one and spectate.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

Though I despise infant circumcision without good medical cause with a passion (no human being has the right to stamp another's body with such a flagrant brand of ownership), a legal ban is not the way to go about things. It should be a matter of debate and gradual acknowledgement of information; cultural rather than legal shift. Without that, any legal activity will seem like imposition, and will only result in conflict.

No, the difference is one is necessary; it proitects you from extremely harmful diseases. The other only become snecessary under certain medical circumstances. The fact that the vast majority of men in the world are not circumcised and do not suffer any ill efefcts as a result demonstrates that. Here in the U.K., circumcisions is extremely unusual except outside of certain sub cultures (e.g. Judaism ). U.K. men do not walk around in a funk of crippling and embarassing genital conditions as a result.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

Are you bringing up this BS argument .. again? When will you start to do your research before posting such nonsens claims? The "recent flu" did affect more young people than usual because it was a relative of a strain that many old people already experienced during their life and thus their immune system knew how to deal with the virus, even after several decades. Now guess what vaccines are for! ](*,)](*,)](*,)

Apart from that this is totally irrelevant to this topic - as blackbeltninja already pointed out.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

Yes, because there are already enough nutjobs who believe in your "theory" and it kills children.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

Instead of reacting emotionally, why don't we ask a man of medicine?

I posted the medical explanation. I also told you the facts about the debunked AND fake studies that started the whole myth, last time. Yet you didn't educate yourself, but continue to spread this myth. If you don't believe me, use google, get the facts.
You can believe whatever you want, but as long as anyone spreads those dangerous myths here I'll raise my voice.

Re: California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

It never ceases to amaze me how electrifying this issue is!
