In this story I'm writing, a bully torments the main character with titty twisters til his chest is bruised, this culminates in a slapstick scene where his shirt catches on fire but he still refuses to take it off to hide his injuries. My hurdle is I need a realistic scenario where a teenage boy's shirt might catch on fire. At present the fire is a result of the older brother trying to teach him how to deep-fry french fries. Part of my brain says "That's not really likely" but another part says "People burn apartments down with grease fires, a sleeve catching fire is plausible."
I'm running on E cuz I'm moving back to NC this week so I'm not getting much sleep. Anyway I'm not married to the grease fire idea, could be anything boys that age get into, fireworks, playing with matches, I recall several fires I started in my childhood. FYI: do not leave toast in the oven, bread is definitely flammable.

Thankyou for reminding me to keep the overall writing as current as possible. I'm an 80s baby, sometimes when I'm writing this character I forget that someone born just a decade after me could have a vastly different childhood than I did. whatever happens it's definitely gonna be related to social media. you're a genius!
