Okay, you people that live in Pennsylvania

I live in the Philadelphia area of PA and have never seen French fries on a salad (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I have finally developed a taste for scrapple and have always loved the Cheesesteak...and not the cheesesteak made with cheese-wiz. Then I prefer my French fries with mayonnaise or some homemade hollandaise instead of catsup.

Now look here! I happen to be living in a part of Pennsylvania where they eat the strangest things (including roadkill), and I have never seen anyone put french fries on a salad. They must have been nearsighted and thought they were rather long, soggy croutons. How utterly disgusting! I think I'll go make some scrapple now.....

There are little furry animals that run wild in Lancaster County called scrapples. The Amish catch them and raise them on their farms. When it's time to slaughter them, they run them through chipper-shredders (like in the movie Fargo) and voila! Scrapple.

Well that's weird because I watched a show on Food TV once about Pennsylvania foods (I can't believe some of the stuff they eat there - I mean, shit, we're talking heart attack on a plate) and fries on salads was one of the featured items.

My friend lives in Zelie (as everyone calls it) but I think it's spelled Zelionople? Zelienople? Zelie.....

I agree with RationalLunacy - I've lived in (eastern) Pennsylvania all my life and I've never seen or heard of anything like putting French Fries on salads. Of course, Pennsylvania is vastly different from one end to the other - perhaps it's something from 'out west'?????

I was visiting my friend in PA and I had my first salad with fries on it... it was SO good, of course it had chicken and ranch dressing, too. Also have had a sandwhich with french fries on it at a club, that was very good also.
