  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

OMFG.... Jack Layton was HOTTTT!!!!

Did you migrate back from Datalounge just to offend us?

Oh Dear, I wouldn't dream so.....

After not posting here (in HT) for a long time, I was just testing the waters and try to find if people here still had a stick up their asses..... and voilá, they still have that stick embedded as far up as always.

Oh well, going back to DL....

PS: I'm not apologizing for anything I posted here.... Jack Layton was an extremely hot, attractive, physically beautiful, human being.

Pique, you've been told over and over that this is offensive and hurtful to mourning people. At this point you're not only trolling, you're being cruel.

Please stop it.

Wow, imagine if someone had actually *criticised* his looks, politics, leadership, etc.

What a distasteful thread topic to start. Talk about some people being hyper shallow. Is this what we should stoop to, highlighting how hot a dead person was in life? I guess for your level of morals/ethics it's not a bad thing because it must me your way of "paying respect" to a dead person. If he was not a "hot" person, you wouldn't bother starting a thread of your "condolences."

Whilst I can understand that feelings may be rather tender amongst Canadians (in particular), I'd just like to point out that we seem to have no problem with mentioning the hotness of James Dean, Heath Ledger, River Phoenix, Brad Renfro, Patrick Swayze, Tupac, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jonathan Brandis, Corey Haim etc - none of whom are with us today, but all of which have been described as 'hot' (and more besides).

Describing someone as 'hot' is hardly a derogatory term whether they're alive or not.

I think a little perspective is needed.

I'm deeply disturbed and more than a little outraged by this comparison.

Firstly, nothing that was said about these 'celebrities' after they died hadn't been said before they died.

Secondly, the only one who died the way Jack died was Patrick Swayze. The rest died in fast cars, by suicide, or by drugs and booze.

There is a complete lack of consideration for a country in mourning. We are still reeling from the news of Jack's death. Yet this thread was and still is allowed to continue.

It's shameful that it is being defended with no consideration whatsoever to the feelings of Canada.

I've seen threads closed and deleted for far less.

There is a double standard here, and the lack of respect to an entire nation is shameful.

I do not believe in the "too soon" policy. I don't think this thread is offensive and frankly if I died, I would loved if someone at least said I was hot.

BUT clearly our JUB Canadian friends are disturbed by the comments. I think it's only tactful, considerate and empathetic if we respect their feelings. I tell you the truth: I don't how "beautiful" could be offensive but if what I post hurts the people I like, people who are my friends in this board, I must then reserve my comments for another more appropriate time.

Did you read any of the posts here last month regarding the death of Amy Winehouse? No one seemed to take offense about the lack of tact and couth when a woman of twenty-seven years died.

There is a big difference. I am not familiar with Mr. Layton but from the news reports and posts here at JUB, he was clearly a special man in Canadian politics.

Amy made great music and died of possible drug abuse and Mr. Layton provided great service to his people and died of cancer. It's not hard for me to say even this though I'm Amy's fan, but there is a difference.

I wasn't going to say anything, but the total self righteous pompousness is just too much....

If no one said anything about Jack's looks ¨before¨he died, was because he wasn't well known (or known at all) outside of Canada.

Second, I hope you weren't the ones who posted gloating or saying ¨see it coming¨ when Winehouse died, cause that would have been a total lack of respect and ¨no consideration¨ for the feelings of the UK.

I maybe wrong, here, but I'm sure the moderators would agree with me that nothing said on this thread warrant for it to be closed and/or deleted.

The double standard you so champion will be broken if they delete this thread, when they left the Amy Winehouse one to stand..... but, unlike that thread, no one here is criticizing Jack (only complimenting on his good looks).

PS: What a sad life one must lead, for one to find offense in the most innocent of compliments!!!!!!!!!

The thing is, not ALL Canadian JUBers find offense in this thread.

Actually, I have spoken with other Canadians thru the web (on other sites), and most of them, specially the ones who actually KNEW Jack in real life, say that Jack would have licked that people found him Hot.

Brad Renfro is dead?!?

When did that happen, and where the hell was I?

Why is someone comparing a death from cancer to a death from drugs from a person known for using drugs, who even sort of championed the fact that they wouldn't seek help from those drugs?

The stupidity some guys come up with to justify their means.
