I promised myself that as soon as i'd finished my degree - I'd quit smoking, so i'm now stuck to the sticky part of a Nicotine patch.

My brother and his clan have just arrived with their nippy Chihuahua's ](*,) and My dad's decided to bring his 2nd wife, his stepdaughter and her cousin to my Nieces' birthday party - which aint gonna go down well at all - So this weekend i'm Nonimus the Negotiator :( ](*,)

There's never a good time to quit smoking, but if i can make it through this weekend i can make it! :(

you can do it....good luck

Oh my Noni you picked a bad time to attempt to quit.

Your right if you make it through this weekend you can go for the long haul.

Good for you and best of luck. (*8*)

Wonderful. I really wish you luck. I do not smoke at all but seeing the people around me trying to quit so hard makes me hate cigarrettes even more.

One of my client who came to my salon recently quited smoking too after 30 years. Its been 3 months and I can see he's looking healthier and so much younger!

Supposed to be the most difficult of all habits to kick. I wish you all the luck, Non..

Good luck! My best mate is gonna quit after his exams, but he doesn't want to add the extra strain while he's revising. Because of the pub smoking ban coming in, he'll have to give up during the summer anyway. He smokes mostly only in the pub, anyway.

Really, considering all my friends are straight, they act gayer than me. One guy is just camp as hell, and another guy sits around with a malibu and coke in one hand, and a fag ;) in the other.

Good luck, Noni! You're right about there never being a 'good' time to quit. I'm still using that rationale. #-o They say your 'seed' will taste better too. I'll have to test you in about a month!

You're right, it's never a good time to quit, so stop looking for excuses to fire one up! :D

You're going to be cranky as all hell, I recommend something to replace your ciggie with. When I quit I kept a pack of Orbitz sugar free chewing gum where I use to keep my cigarettes, and each time I found myself reaching for a smoke, I grabbed a piece of gum instead.

My jaw was sore as hell for the first couple of days chewing the hell out of gum, but once I got past that I was fine! ;) (*8*)

If you slip and have one, just put it out and remember why you're quitting in the first place.

You'll start to get your energy back, you'll start all around feeling better, and you'll start to get your sense of smell and taste back!

I started putting money back that I would normally have spent on smokes toward something else for me.

So tuck back your sterling and come meet some JUBbers in San Antonio, Texas in September! ..|

All the luck in the world Noni. What a weekend to choose. Noni the patched negotiator  The family had better behave or it will be

I do really wish you all the courage in the world to succeed. Not easy is it?

They say that if you don't succeed don't feel guilty as often it is the second or third time that provide the success.

Just keep thinking that you will succeed because if you don't you will have shelled out all that money for expensive patches for nothing.

Best of luck and hang in there.

I've never smoked in my entire life but I know how you feel. Coming from an alchohol perspective, I decided to quit cold turkey because frankly my binges were becoming uncontrolable. Whenever family events come up now, i'm in constant dread because I know i'll have to deal with it sober and that's a scary thought but it can be done. Hang in there and you'll come out the other side a more healthier, stronger person for it.

Go, Noni, Go Go Go
I'm just over the 3 year mark off the cigarettes. I went the way of the patches (and lozenges).
I have NEVER been happier or fitter.....or crazier:confused: .
Go, Noni, Go Go Go!..| ..| ..|

Good luck Noni! ..|

I don't want to see you touch one more fag from now on. [-X :D

Best of luck - I went on patches in January and never craved one after that, despite lots of stressful times - go for it, stick with it. You can do it!

Don't be afraid to slap on an extra patch, or part of one (you can cut them up into smaller squares, you know), if the going gets tough. I know when I was on the patch, I'd gone down to a lower level patch two days before a big family get-together, the Grandmother's 80th birthday, and came very close to a nervous breakdown because of it. There wasn't even any drama (my family doesn't do drama), I just flipped out... the same as when I tried to go cold-turkey. I simply couldn't handle the stress without the drug.

It also helps to have something to do with your hands. Take up knitting or crochet or something. And if any of your family gets out out hand, you can stab him or her in the calf or biceps with your implements. Don't kill them, though, that would give them too much satisfaction.
