This isn't so much for me, but for everyone here who is trying to quit or is contemplating quitting.

I smoked off and on from age 16 to age 32 when I became a regular smoker. I smoked for almost 40 years and I quit. I haven't had so much as a puff of a cigarette since last February.

If I can do it, you certainly can, too.

One day at a time, my friends. One day at a time.

And believe me. . . it does get easier each and every day you don't light up.

Now that I am smoking around 30 cigarettes a day I am going to go and get some champix.... nicotine patches don't work... I need a drug. I am going to the doctors to get a script tomorrow. Though I absolutely love smoking... it is way too expensive... I am spending about $90 a week just on cigarettes.

That's how much a carton of cigarettes is in New York City, last time I was there. I'm sure they've found another tax to throw on their since my last visit.

How much are cigs in Australia if I may ask?

And congrats too gsdx! :=D:

gsdx ,

I am joyful for you. And more than anything I hope you are rewarded with many additional years of good health, and within ten years have your lungs totally clear, and just think you will still be younger than I am right now.

You are truly to be congratulated.

Shep+ (!)(!)(!)(*8*)..|:-({|=

My cigarettes are between $11 and $13 for a 30 pack... depending on where you buy them.

Congrats to Neil !!!

I'm on 3 yrs of being smoke free.

Its a very hard habit to break !
I too have smoked for 40 years.
Its also an expensive habit to keep !
But I must admit - I've gained weight.

It was the encouragement and support from JUB which got me through it. There's plenty of people here who are more than willing to get you through the rough bits.

(By the way, I quit 'cold turkey' at advice from fellow Jubbers. No patches. No pills. No nothing. I simply quit.

Keep us posted. (*8*)

I woud welcome any help that i can get .I'll be in touch.I 'm still in the mid of my 2 wk's notice.Thank's gsdx . I't nice to know i'm not alone.

Great to hear you have stopped for a year and great to hear the other guys have stopped.

I quit 26 years ago (yikes more years than the ages of JUB'ers here!).

Wow, that's great. I have seven months so far. I quit on 07/07/07, I thought a nice quit date like that would help me stick to it. Y'know like all those couples that got married on that date.

All right, Neil!

Way to go. Or way to delay going.

12 years now for me. Still crave one now and then, but I won't allow myself to smoke again. Life has been so much better since I quit.

Wow! I can't believe its been a year! My how time flies. :D
