On-Topic Opinions: A better way to fight Nazis?

This thread is not really about the op-ed below, but the idea it gives.

Fighting gives the Nazis what they want and let them try to play the victim even more than they already do. Making fun of them and making them look like the fools that they are seems like a great tactic to me.

What do you think? Do you think this could work? If so what kind of things would you do to mock them? Give me some ideas to use.

For decades, Wunsiedel, a German town near the Czech border, has struggled with a parade of unwanted visitors. It was the original burial place of one of Adolf Hitler’s deputies, a man named Rudolf Hess. And every year, to residents’ chagrin, neo-Nazis marched to his grave site. The town had staged counterdemonstrations to dissuade these pilgrims. In 2011 it had exhumed Hess’s body and even removed his grave stone. But undeterred, the neo-Nazis returned. So in 2014, the town tried a different tactic: humorous subversion.

It's a good idea, but I'm not sure on ideas. Pink swastikas? Badly-done Hitler look-alikes? (My dad used to do a great mocking Hitler impression -- that was a common way of responding to the Nazis back when they ran a country [into the ground].) Do "Springtime for Hitler" with comic versions of the movie costumes (maybe Star Wars stormtroopers instead of SS)?

Too many lies to count.... I'll tackle just one:

"White nationalism" and "white supremacy" are terms used by these organizations to describe themselves. So using the terms isn't using epithets, it's being objective.


Heck, I'll tackle another: as is not uncommon, you give liberals too much credit -- you don't have to invoke conspiracy theories to explain the attacks on statues since emotion and frustration are sufficient.

I think the point is to make others laugh at them, and make the less committed ashamed or embarrassed to strut their stuff in public.

Though I doubt "most of his base is thrilled" about having Nazis supporting him -- just look at the news reports of pissed-off Republican WWII veterans. My favorite was one who pointed out that Trump was trying to be "fair and balanced" and couldn't even get that right.

Anyway, in regards to the Neo-Nazis we have to understand why they're declaring victory at Charlottesville to begin with, and why they're promising "more Charlottesvilles" in the future. Starting a fight is exactly why they came in the first place, and once the counter protesters showed up they had exactly what they wanted.

And sorry Internet, but this isn't going to end if we just take down Confederate statues. There is way more nefarious stuff on the alt-right and Neo-Nazi agenda than just preserving statues. They'll find some other thing to get the left's blood boiling about, and start more fights with you so they can get on the national news and get more people interested in their vile shit. The moment one of their protests is nothing more than a bunch of idiots waving flags and tiki torches is the moment the media loses interest in them and they're no longer a national story.

I am in complete agreement with Benvolio.

And in particular the BLATANTLY RACIST 'education' in progressive liberal American colleges and campuses. You don't promote racial equality by teaching policies that are variations of Marxist thought principles with regards to race, history, and identity. I'm really disgusted by it. It is resulting in, essentially, the racial re-segregation of this generation. It has in my view been the driving impetus of the rise of the alt-right. And it all fostering PROFOUND social division.

I was thinking a lot about this yesterday and last night.

Consider this:

Both the torch-wielding extreme-right rabble in Charlottesville, and the far-left professors currently 'teaching' in American institutions, both believe, in vastly different ways, in essentially the same set of premise and postulations:

(1) that an individuals identity is to be solely and exclusively based on race
(2) that there must be a collective group formed of everyone based on their racial identity
(3) that this collective identity is in danger from another collective identity
(4) that this identity conflict is based on historical reasons and can only be seen as such
(5) that certain founding principles and ideals of the United States are irreconcilable with this conflict
(6) that the only remedy is to be found in increasing levels of protest and aggression
(7) that if necessary, violence is completely justifiable for this cause

I don't expect the conflict to end soon, and I think it's going to get steadily worse. If each successive new year of students are taught endless racial division, then racial division is what you get.

Do you think that most white Americans agree with the decision to make this a nonEuropean country? Who made the decision? In a democracy the people are supposed to make the big decisions.
In the history of the world has any country or any people decided to allow their country to be overrun, the people and culture replaced by others? Have all the people resisting their being over run and replaced been evil racists and the replacements non-racist?

Nah, if a Nazi or som extreme bigot is out in public proclaiming their hate they're going to get punched by me. I've tolerated hate just about enough, I'm tired of just standing by and letting these people go unchecked. There's only so much anger one can hold in.

My grandfather on my fathers side fought in WW2 and these knuckle dragging bigots don't get to insult people like him with their bullshit ideologies.

The original human settlers of what has become the United States were Asian tribes. Crazy Horse, and Sitting Bull, and Geronimo are examples recorded in the history of the United States. The European flood of settlers did not seek permission from the original settlers to colonise New England....and the many treaties between Indigenous tribes, and the United States Government were more often, or not broken by the Europeans.

We know little, or nothing of the human settlers of the British Isles prior to the arrival of the Celtic tribes from the Iberian Peninsular followed by Rome's invasion, and settlement. Later the Angles, Jutes, Vikings, Normans and a variety of other tribes would invade and settle in what became England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland...all without the permission of the earlier invaders, and settlers.

I blame early human life, or homo sapiens for daring to emerge in East Africa (yes, we are all Africans) and even more daring, mating with Neanderthals leading to the mongrel human race we continue to evolve into.

Neville Chamberlain had fought in the trenches during the first world war and understood that in the UK, and France there was no appetite for a re-run for both nations had still not recovered from the earlier conflict. Despite possessing the largest army in Europe being able to field 90 divisions France collapsed under German invasion within six weeks. The UK was saved by the English Channel and an exhausted German Army needing rest, and re-equipping after its rapid invasion of The Netherlands, Belgium, and France.

So you don't think anti-white is racism? The critical element of racism is the restriction of personal freedoms including freedom of speech. It is you who seek to silence those who object to your racist ideology and agenda. I don't hear any on the right trying to silence liberals,democrats, minorities or marxists. It is people like you who think your hatred and name calling gives you the right to silence those who disagree.
