send him to me ill grant him asylum

ill grant him asylum so hard

!oops!

This should be an open and shut case.

Mehdi, who came to the UK to learn, should be allowed to stay in Britain.

We cannot on the one hand claim to abhor the treatment of certain people by the Iranian regime, and on the other send a young man to his certain death.

I hope that our leadership will speak up for this young man. Look at the picture.

That's what we, if we don't let him stay, are condemning this young man to.

Britain should hang it's head in shame if this man is deported.

I have written to my MP about this...it's disgraceful.

well if he does get sent back his story will become a tragedy

britian will be remembered for what they allowed to happen

with great hope i hope he allowed to stay in the uk

I find those public hangings in Iran absolutely horrifying.

According to an anonymous comment to CNN's article about this case, he/she wrote they have never heard of any execution of gays even though they live in Iran.

thank you for this current (today's) status and report about this young man.

the British (Government) should hide their heads in shame for allowing this matter to come to this point. all they needed to do was use COMMON SENSE in how to handle this matter.

i don't think even our current (American) adminstrations would act as stupidly in a case like this and they had done some of the stupidist things one can imagine.

eM.

"Discrete" How is having his name, and face, and story plastered in papers and on TV around the world going to allow him to return unnoticed to Iran so he can live his discrete homosexual lifestyle in a country in which there ARE no homosexuals; there being none if only because when they find one, they hang them?

What utter moronic idiots.

But hey, it's only a homosexual and as everyone who's anyone knows, one's homosexuality negates one's humanity given that all homosexuals are demon possessed and worse than terrorists.

Why aren't more people standing up and saying "enough!" ?

You know, I wish the queen would just walk into those meetings and kick ass and make sure that boy is granted asylum.

If she would do that, she'd really rule! :king:

Oh for BLEEP's sake!

ANOTHER thread on this?

Cant we sticky the main one and just add to that?

It's not as if Britain is the only nation in the world to refuse access to a gay man who had to be sent back to his death!!!!

The true issue isnt about the UK asylum law - it's actually about Iran's (in)tolerance of homosexuals!
No, Joe, it's about the British government acting as heartless bastards. Plain and simple. Once you send him back and he's hanged, THEN we'll bitch about Iran's intolerance of homosexuals.

Thats not the point!

We could do a lot to prevent lots of peoples death... but countries have laws... people must obey by them.. if they dont, they pay the consequences.

Americans of ALL people should know this...
Oh fuck off with your America bashing Joe, it really grows tiresome. Pull your head from your ass and you'll still smell the stench of shit -- your country's just as deep in it as we are.

And there's a big difference. Sending someone back to their country of origin to face criminal charges is one thing, but he's trying to save his own life and Britain is turning its back on him. Don't try to tell me about "he should've applied for asylum in the first country he enters once exiting Iran" because how many people know that?

Bush would use the chance to denounce Iran... and ask everyone to pray for the kid to be "cured".

Yes! ..|
There's a power the monarchy ought to have: to intervene on behalf of those endangered by the stupidity of the law.

Oh for BLEEP's sake!

Right.
Just like if I was speeding down the freeway at 120 kph and opened the door for you to kick a kid out, it wouldn't be about our speed and ditching the kid, it would be about how hard the pavement is.

I do believe that the worst offender by far here is Iran. However, I still agree that Britain shouldn't need this sort of response to even agree to hear the case again.

However, the good news is that they are indeed agreeing to hear his case again when he arrives back in England. I'm just hoping it goes well...

The Geneva conventions, together with the Dublin convention states that an asylum seeker, has the RIGHT to asylum in the nearest and first safe country.

So by those laws, the UK should have NO asylum seekers, given that we're surrounded by safe nations.....

If they send this kid back to Iran, it'll be a very good thing you're surrounded by safe countries, 'cause it will show the UK isn't.

Thats not the point!

Americans of ALL people should know this...

Americans also know that a lot of laws are flat out wrong. Before the "Big Two" political parties turned the place into a nascent police state, Americans knew that when a law was wrong, you said so, and ignored it.

Did i say that newbie? No...

As i said last night - do NOT put words in my mouth, or you and i will fall out.

Sounds a lot like what you've been saying, Joe, putting law above a life.

Joe, you're hiding behind the state law ignoring the human right. When was the last time you belonged to the state?

This young man will be sentenced to death [in his home country] for being who he is and having you trying to justify his departure based on law shows that you don't have much compassion for the individual human being.

I strongly believe in the human right and it should apply to everyone, had he been a criminal, then the situation would look different, but we're dealing with a student who happens to be gay, and when was the last time you found being gay as being criminal?

Please don't help the biased folks out there killing innocent human being because they are "different" based on law, you know that this is the last thing we need in our fight for equality. :(
