PalacePaul Appreciation Thread

Good Sunday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I'm sorry you had to endure that miserable concert. Sometimes "experimental" music can be interesting, but too often it's just not pleasant to listen to.

Good evening, Loner and John (*8*)

That concert was really, really boring :(
About the weddings: last Thursday I had to play Bach's Toccata in d minor  And next week we've been asked to sing... a Christmas carol
Speechless.

Hola Paul , gracias por escribir
espero tengas una buena semana y que los compromisos laborales que vienen fluyan bien Amigo

Good Wednesday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

Those are indeed some odd selections for wedding music. You mean they wanted Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, the one that has become a horror movie standard? That certainly doesn't portend well for their marriage. And why would you do a Christmas Carol, unless you plan for your firstborn to be the baby Jesus?

I remember listening to an experimental music program on the radio once. They played a selection where someone took the song Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair, and then proceeded to murder it, torturing the listener in the process. Admittedly it was interesting, in the same way watching a train wreck in progress will keep your attention.

Hi Paul! I'm home after a week in Ohio. I waded in Lake Erie on Monday. Kids were swimmng but the water was cold.

Hope your week is good!

Good morning frankie, RM, John and Thad (*8*)
Thad I'm glad you had a good trip. Yesterday it was hot so I went to the beach for the first time. I intended to walk into the water at least but finally I had a full bath

John, it's clear some people are really, really stupid. Finally the Christmas carol was cancelled when the priest said it wasn't right, so we replaced it with some classic Haendel stuff.

RM that ass is AMAZING!! I'd like this guy twerking it on my face :p

Frankie espero que estés disfrutando una agradable semana

Good Thursday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I hope you're not getting too exasperated with the wedding music. At least the priest has enough sense to cancel the Christmas music.

Good morning, RM and John.
Tomorrow I'm joining a group of amateur organists and we'll go see some unknown organs.
This week's wedding is gonna be delightful. Only Schubert, Mozart, Wagner... organ solo, no singers. It feels like holidays to me

Enjoy the organ tour! I don't play, but there are some wonderful organs in my area. The Wanamaker organ at Macy's department store in Philadelphia, the organ at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, and an organ at Dickinson High School in Delaware that draws world-class players for concerts.

Good Tuesday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I hope you enjoyed your organ tour the other day, and it sounds like the wedding music was enjoyable for once. I hope things continue to go well for you.

What a week... :(
I played a funeral on Wednesday
On the same day I had news about the former organist being very sick, and probably dying soon
Today a friend called and told me her mother died. She wants me to play at the funeral

At least I had some time alone with my sister this morning where we had a nice walk

I hope you all had a good week and didn't think about death too much

Hola Paul , I dread funerals as they remind me of how fragile lives are , I hope you can play at you friend's mother funeral

I know it's easy to say it , but we have to be strong when we witness death , and the mourning that comes with it , we all will die one day anyway

I hope you have a better week My Friend

Other than the murder mystery I'm reading, I haven't thought on death much lately.

But I have plans to perform musically! My long-ago high school classmates have planned a reunion of alumni of the music department. Some of us (chorus) will sing!

Rehearsals will be the next two weeks and the event is July 13. Our old school building is no more, but this is an opportunity to see and tour the new high school on the site.

I have not seen these people in many years, although I live 5km from the school now. I'm actually looking forward to it.
