PalacePaul Appreciation Thread

Good evening! (*8*) I'm exhausted right now o_O
This weekend we hosted a meeting of amateur church singers here... nothing really interesting, to be honest.
Today we started the rehearsals for Christmas season.
The organ is currently undergoing some reparations, but it will only take a few weeks.

Hi Paul! I'm in Cleveland for the weekend. Spending time with my friend Rick, and we went to a dance performance Saturday night. I'm here until Tuesday.
We spent time today shopping. I live simply with little space for decor. I may not buy, but there are so many wonderful things to see.
Christmas is in stores, and Santa Claus was there. Many people, from babies to whole families, were being photographed with him.
Hope all is well with you.

Hello from Utah! There's traces of snow on the ground and lots visible on the mountains. I'm staying in South Salt Lake and will explore more before I leave next Sunday.
The West feels different to me. Lots of familiar American things, true, but mountains always in sight. The Mormons developed the Salt Lake Valley on a strict grid.

Good Saturday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I hope you enjoyed Singles Day. Of course, it's always better if you're happily so. I hope your rehearsals for the Christmas season are going well.

Good night Thad and John.
At this point yes, I'm happily single. I can't imagine how things would change if I was in a relationship.

Hi Paul!
I'm at Salt Lake City International Airport waiting for my flight home.Yes, that's snow on the mountains in the background. Salt Lake City will host the 2034 Winter Olympics. They hosted successfully in 2002.
Last night I went to a play at Westminster University, then out dancing at the underwear party at Club TRYangles. Fun!

Good Friday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I take it that you're probably in preparations for the programs during the Advent and Christmas season by now, so you're likely very busy. I hope all is well for you.

Good morning Frankie, Thad and John!
John, you're right. Yesterday I sent the pieces I've chosen to be printed (every year the cathedral prints a beautiful Christmas booklet with texts and photos, including the music that will be sung during services). Rehearsals started 2 weeks ago.
Not only this, but now they charged me with the adaptation of the new hymn for Jubilee Year 2025  Which is actually quite easy ;)

I wish you enjoy the weekend (*8*)

Good Friday morning, Paul! (*8*)

I take it that soon if not already you will get the programs for the cathedral Christmas, and I hope you're well satisfied with how they turn out. I also hope that the rehearsals are going well, and that your adaptation of the 2025 Jubilee Hymn is going well.

Good Wednesday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I'm sure you're busy with the rehearsals and preparations for the Christmas season, and I hope it's all going well. I had a cousin in San Diego call me, and he talked about something called "Lesson and Carol," a type of program which alternates scripture readings and Christmas carols. I had never heard of it, but apparently some churches are doing that out there. From what I could gather from the Wikipedia article, the Lesson and Carol format is popular in England.

Good Thursday morning, Paul! (*8*)

I take it you're really busy with the Christmas programs right now, and I hope all your performances are grand. The organ restoration at Notre Dame Cathedral is spectacular.

Good evening John. Thank you for your latest posts.
On Sunday 8th we celebrated the feast of the Immaculate Conception, as you can imagine it's a major Catholic holiday. We did a great job. At the end of the mass I played a piece by Charles Tournemire, one of my favorite composers.
Some of those British "Lesson and Carol" services are posted on Youtube, I think it's a beautiful format and easily adaptable. We should start those around here.
I watched the Notre Dame reopening and I liked it very much. It is true that the organ music was too difficult for the audience. But the French have a brilliant organ tradition and they wanted to show the whole world. Ça vous étonne? :ROFLMAO:
