so.. um..

My BF gave me a book on gay men in Wicca for Christmas. And I can't put it down.

and as odd as this sounds... I'm really getting into it and liking what I read.

So.. any other gay Wiccans out there (not that I'm a Wiccan just yet.. but you know.. )

(Don't they put a person in a huge man like cage and then set fire to the victim as sacrifice? - star-warrior)

Hahahahaha! You are thinking of the book The Vampire Lestat. Anywho, I dont think they do that anymore. First of all, who has the energy and the gumption to build a huge man-shaped-cage. And who besides Straight Republicans own the amount of land required to perform a sacrifice of that magnitude without rousing the neighborhood! Sacrifice is too involved these days. Especially when a dramatic monologue from your favorite made-for-tv-movie would be just as effective in the grand scheme of things.

Don't they put a person in a huge man like cage and then set fire to the victim as sacrifice?

Not "Wicker Man," which is assembled of dry sticks and brush to embody humankind's reckless behavior with abusing Mother Earth's resources. It's ritually set ablaze as an act of remorse with the message of intent for the people to change

The Green Man repreesnts a living creature, quietly watching over the intricate processes by which Nature thrives. His images found in the sculptured art of churches, pubs, and gardens honor his beautiful, enduring soul, which he shares with the strongest oak tree and the tiniest moss.

Yeah, I'm really digging the book and I guess I'm suddenly discovering a spiritual side to myself.

Who'd have thought THAT would be possible?

I don't know much about Wicca. It sounds interesting. I will check it out. I think we can learn from all beliefs. Just a word of advice, when dealing with the spiritual world, be careful. We know there is evil, the dark side, etc. Sometimes, it can be opened up, maybe by accident, and it is hard to get it closed. Has the book talked about that situation? Remember, karma is a bitch.

Hm.. maybe I shouldn't have wished that kid would grow up to be short, bald and gay when I was 12?

I couldn't find a review of any lenght on the internet, but it sounds like an interesting book. I don't believe in magic, and Wicca tends to be rather sloppy with its mythological sources, but I might pick this up.

My penultimate housemate/ex-boyfriend/love triangleee was into Wicca, and was always preparing one kind of magic or the other.
Unfortunately, my repeated requests to ask the Goddess for more money were blatantly ignored, and I had to move back in with that other goddess in my life, my mother.

LOL loved the last part there. No in Wicca everything is three fold. Send out good energy receive good energy three fold. There are ways to ask for money but one does not usually get more than one needs. I know that sucks but that is the way it is.

I have dealt with a lot of wiccans and they all have been wonderful people that wanted nothing but the best for their fellow human beings as well for Earth Mother.

If you have any question don't hesitate to ask Soil.

I hope you meant "Don't hesitate to ask, Soil."

Because I really don't have many answers right now... but hey.. even Soilwork needs to believe in something, I guess.

The Goddess isn't in the business of counterfeiting money, robbing banks, or rigging lotteries. If its the right time of the month, She could be persuaded to bestow ideas, opportunities, capabilities, etc., for you to attract the money to yourself.

Sometimes one has to realize that it's not how much yoy have, but whether you use/invest it wisely or waste it foolishly.

Plus, spells can often manifest in unexpected ways.

My lot has been progressively-developing food allergies (from MSG to soy), so I was forced to learn how to cook from basic ingredients.

Yet, tonight I had a grilled 21-piece herb/butter shrimp dinner, with steamed garden vegetables, baked potato, and fresh-baked yeast roll. Total cost or that meal was less than a third of what a restaurant bill would be, was more nutritious, and I avoided possibly being in one of the 2 fatal wrecks on the highway between home and Red Lobster

In my novice days I cast a lot of ritual spells for money, health, and protection.

Back then I hadn't attained the understanding that magic's "path of least resistance" is to change the inner Self, then allow the Self to attract its own reflection from the outside Universe.

Yea lol I meant to say don't hesitate to ask us here anything you don't understand.

And what Hoody and Green man said are so very true.

Sorry for the mix.:(

No it's cool,

I'm certainly not a Wiccan just yet. But I'm loving the book and the stories and the way it was all presented. I'll maybe venture a bit deeper into it...

It seems like the book is more about personal discovery, and evolving a sense of connectiveness with Nature.

Besides, real Wicca, per se, doesn't think in terms of "good" or "evil,' which are subjective to the limited human condition.

Mostly our ceremonial worship guides us in seeking "to live wisely and well without harm to others and in harmony with Nature."

Anyone competant enough to perform a bona fide Wiccan ritual is also competant enough set up the holy space so as not to let anything adverse cross into it.

I say "adverse," as opposed to "evil," because a mosquito swarm is adverse to a backyard barbecue, but we wouldn't label it "evil."

Yes, there are unfriendly forces in the spiritual dimension, most often created by malefic or ignorant users of low magic. We choose not to collaborate with such entities, or expose ourselves to inconvenient chaos by dealing with those who do.

As to what's in the minds of those Necronomicon Goth kids hanging out in their basements around Ouija boards with goblets of hepatitis juice, I don't know, but they're not part of what we're about.

Green_Man_007, Thanks for the info.

That sounds good to me.

I would be concerned about "adverse" spirits. I had a real bad experience with a Quija board. I looked at it as something fun, a type of game. It scared the shit out of me.

Another experience with evil, involved meeting a person, in a casual way. I walked up to the guy to say "hello" and chat. I got a overwhelming feeling to cut it short and move away. It turned out several years later, he was arrested for being a serial killer.

I'm sure we all have come in contact with some form of evil. I don't know much about Wicca. I do know when dealing with the spiritual world, be careful.

I find I can learn something from all religions (spiritual teachings). When I read or search out information, I take what is useful and applies to my life (spiritual walk), and leave behind, what I don't agree with.

The sociopathic "evil" of a serial killer have more to do with his mortal character and mundane deeds than anything supernatural.

Yet, such people's lives do become flop houses for adverse forces, parasitic on the vibrations of hate and fear generated by those people and others around them.

Then there are the "demonists" and Luciferians (not Wiccans) who are conscioius of the supernatural powers they choose to dabble with, .but have too much arrogance to see danger in their thrills.

In both cases, "Plan 'A'" is not to go out of the way to engage Crazy Bubba or Warlock Skippy in a friendly chat.

If they're unavoidable, "Plan 'B'" is to project the psychic message behind a soft whisper, at whatever's polluting their auras, "You have no power to do me harm. I have no fear. You will leave now."

(That's a simple version. For demonists/Luciferians with stronger connections to dark thoughforms, the litany might need spicing with ritual phrases in Greek and Enochian.)

Different reactions among those people. Whether they walk off or hang around, I don't have to deal with their bugs.

Off the street, for a ceremony, the area's cleansed, then a magical barrier is built around it, the space is consecrated for the work of the Goddess and God, and otherworldly beings are summoned to witness, guide, and protect.

Ouija boards, on the other hand, are like putting your banking info and home address online for every criminal to see.

Thanks for the laugh.

That is an interesting distinction. Like I said, I don't know much about Wicca.
