It's not her responsibility to be a spokesperson for her health issues.

She's done nothing wrong. I've watched her shows from the start. She teaches people how to make traditional Southern recipes and DOES, in fact, say regularly on her show that her foods aren't meant to be eaten everyday. I'm so fucking sick of the food police in this country making it everyone else's responsibility to govern the way people eat instead of expecting the individual to show some self control.

To bury your head in the sand and pretend Paula Deen has NO influence on how America eats is absurd.
We're approaching this topic from the viewpoint of gay men.
But, you have to realize there are LOTS of straight guys out there that equate eating what they want with masculinity.
One has only to look at the new Jenny Craig ad that features some basketball player, (I think) and the tag line is "Lose weight like a man".
In other words, you can still eat steaks and mushrooms and onions and all of that...
Because, dieting is somehow an affront to your masculinity.
There's an entire market for this that most people of our ilk are not aware of...

She knew for 3 YEARS that she had diabetes, yet kept making unhealthy crap and jamming it in her gullet. Then she has the gall to tell others to eat in moderation? Even better, she didn't reveal her condition until she got a sponsorship deal with a drug company. Paula is cashing in by telling people you don't need diet and exercise to control your diabetes- just take a pill, y'all!

I'm not gonna say nyaah nyaah because she came down with diabetes her own self. I'm not even going to come down on her for waiting 3 years to announce (we're all in denial about something or other). The only thing I hate her for (and hate her I do, now) is for waiting until she locked in an endorsement deal with a diabetes drug maker before she announced. THAT's the action of a greedy pig.
