I am offended by this continuous inferrance that muslims are any more predisposed to violence than any other religious group, and the underlying biggotry in these kind of posts. No, those actions do not represent ALL Muslims. They do, however represent anywhere between 5% and 10% of Muslims, and given that there are roughly 1.2 billion Muslims on the planet, that's a huge population.

Militant and violent Islam is like the 2000 pound elephant in the living room - nobody wants to admit that it's there, because it's not politically correct to do so, and people are afraid that the dreaded "R" word will be tossed about if they mention the problem.

They do, however represent anywhere between 5% and 10% of Muslims, and given that there are roughly 1.2 billion Muslims on the planet, that's a huge population.

It doesn't make them any worse than other groups who seem to get free passes on extremism.

There’s no doubt that Islam is portrayed in the west in a biased way. People do see Arabs and terrorists when you say Muslim. Which probably annoys the millions of Muslims in Asia, who aren’t bombing us, and probably don’t care about Jews much at all. More Muslims live in South Asia than the Middle East.

The friction between the Middle East and the west comes from a lot more than religion. But that isn’t the issue, and neither is Christianity – which has its own problems.

There are a lot of things about Islam that I find, frankly offensive. But I’m also smart enough to realize that the things about Islam that bother me are not necessarily things embedded in Islam itself – such as the tent women – but in local custom and practice that’s going to vary from place to place, demographic group, education level, income, and a whole host of other demographic factors.

We however, don’t help the issue by behaving like bigoted idiots up on our high horses condemning in the name of Christ. Those of you who are Christians have an obligation to Christ to treat everyone with kindness and charity anyway. Those of us who aren’t are better served by not acting like the bigoted demon stereotype the Islamic fanatics use to recruit new followers.
