So I'm watching an old episode of Toni Braxton's reality show and her sister takes her to a Tanning Salon to get SPRAYED...No person of Color I know living in the Dirty South has ever talked about getting Airbrushed...
I went online this morning and read many message board postings from White Tanning Salon owners that claim they Airbrush Black customers just as much as their White Customers....Huh?
A few comments from Tanning Salon Owners:
"As most of the comments above who do Africian Americans. I do the Africian Americans/Asians, Hispanics, latinos and usually with consultation you will find out the objective. some mixed Afician Americans or other nationality they usually have in mind what they are looking for example I spray a Africian American who likes a golden tone and one likes a reddish tint, so I plan & spray accordingly. I have another latino who likes a hershey look and I just mixed to their specifications.
My advice is consult and plan. Just like you do with other skin types.
Best REgards"
"I tan several african americans usually just looking for even color and enjoy the time to relax and re-energize."
"yeah i do them all the time.. they love it" ...
"spray your African American Customer. I have sprayed caucasian ladies that are probably darker than she is.
Even if she doesn't come out darker, she will have a very even tone if you do it right. She will probably be impressed."
My skin tone is Medium Brown..Everything below my Neck is of course more of a light Brown...I'm curious about Airbrushing but I don't see my different tones as something I want to change or improve...But I like the Glowing thing about it...
I think I might want to Glow...When people look at me I want them to say "Man you're Glowing....Something is different.....Are you in Love?"....
None of my Black family members & friends patronize Tanning Salons...What do you Tanning Salon patrons think? And do you know any people of color that Airbrush? Do you think the Clerks will refuse to Airbrush me out of fear and Laugh me out of the Salon?
