Are you saying the showering might kill the stuff, or simply wash (most of) it away before it gets into the pool?
Can't imagine a little Nivea Sensitive with Bamboo Milk can do what chlorine water can't, frankly, but I suppose I might be wrong...
Soap itself is less effective at removing bacteria from skin than the combination of friction and water. What soap does is provide an mechanism to help dislodge bacteria that adhere to skin so that they are more easily washed away.
We are constantly coming in contact with mites and fungus and bacteria that are on other people's skin. That's not, in itself, unhealthy. However, in a public pool full of people, you're soaking in a soap of other people's dead skin, bacteria and fungi. A good shower with soap before bathing in a public pool could only be a good thing.
