I Republicans making the same mistake the Dems did in 2004, and the Reps did in 1996. They are only focused on finding someone that can beat the sitting President. Period. Nothing else matters. Not integrity. Not intelligence. Nothing, just beat the SOB Obama.

The problem with this approach is that is gives you people like John Kerry and Bob Dole, completely bland, uninspiring, dullards, whom no one is especially excited to vote for. They hope and pray that their electorate will show up, hold their nose, and vote against Obama rather than nominate a candidate that has lots of energy, views, and positives because that would also give them negatives to other groups, which would "limit" their appeal to the nomination true believers.

Thus, they commit the ultimate fallacy. They nominate a candidate that doesn't offend anyone's sensibilities, but doesn't appeal to anyone's either. Aka... a loser. Obama's reelected in 2012.
