Petition To Get Olbermann Back On The Air

It started back in the 80's with "Entertainment Tonight" when movies and celebrities and musicians started to be presented as an actual "newscast". As if how many CD's whatever artist sold or what they were wearing or who they were fucking at the time was actual "news".

Since then things have morphed into really odd directions. With the advent of 24-hour cable "news" channels anything and everything becomes a news story.

Obama has a fart cross-ways ? It's breaking news ! Then Fox "News" jumps in with some nonsense about how if Obama knew how to digest the constitution correctly he wouldn't be in such gastronomical distress and the nonsense just goes on from there.

24 hours a day.

And at least 50 percent of the country, believing that their TV's are the source of the ultimate truth coming into their living rooms buy right into it....

It's the reason we've become a laughing stock to so many other parts of the world.

Denmark is fascinating by the way. Expensive though. Spain might be a better choice.

I am not laughing anymore. I'm sad really. I don't blame the American media anymore. It's you people. With nonsense like "let's sign this petition" or " fuck Fox" or this or that. Why are you caring more about what the reporters do? Will make a difference if another person comes in to tell the news?

Which of any of this is suppose to tell you on the facts of the political nature in America? Yeah, their media is so not distracting you with their antics so that they can make money. They really want to show you their patriotism and constant fight for truth and democracy. They are absolutely not bias. All this is part of a giant battle for supreme truth.

Current Events and Politics is slowly morphing into Celebrity News & Gossip: Special on Anchors/News Networks.

I signed - but had to google a US zip code. Hehehe.

Keith Olbermann is cool. I saw the few segments he did in defense of gay marriage!

And honestly, if NBC doesn't have a policy against contributions, what gives?!

Local and network news are, for the most part, "normal news." Cable news gets all the attention, but really, their ratings are infinitesimally small compared to the regular 6 o'clock broadcasts.

Most Americans do not watch cable news.

Thank you. I am more relieved now.

And are they apolitical? Are they owned by any of these stupid cable media organizations? I hope not.

The rules are the rules.

Right? ;)

Yes rules are rules but according to the article MSNBC does NOT prohibit their employees from donating so what rule did he break? Keith is the mother ship of TV progressive news!

I'm more of a Maddow kinda guy, but Keith has brought a lot of crappy things to light that other networks aren't willing to broadcast. This is a sad day for non-conservatives but I must say...HOT-FUCKIN-DAMN! at who they got to fill in for him tonight....journalist or Menatplay star?

He's being eased out for other reasons, not for political donations.

Some of it has to do with the Comcast takeover, you know, profits over propaganda.

And some of it has to do with political pay back. He's made a few powerful enemies...

I'd hold his hand.

IMO, I think his boss is letting him know who is the BOSS since they didn't really get along. Since he has Keith attention, I'm hopeful he will be back on air in a couple of weeks because before you know it, CNN will pass them in the ratings and I'm sure they don't want that.

The more I think about this, I do think this is all staged by MSNBC. They are probably doing this just for the purpose of making it obvious how they are different from Fox (for those who have never watch cable news before). Rachel pretty much proved this last night on her show and she is part of the act. She seemed all too comfortable talking about Keith's absence.

This is pure bullshit. Donating to a political candidate is freedom of speech according to the US Supreme Court. Hence, he does not need prior approval from anyone.

I'm surprised that anyone actually watches MSNBC. Keith who? If anyone actually compared the ratio of Conservative and Liberal Commentators giving opinion on MSNBC, to Fox, There's no competition. Fox wins. They always have the Left opinion on every debate that I have watched. I admit, Fox does lean to the Right, but at least they always offer the opposing opinion respectfully. Can the same be said for MSNBC? Don't think so..That's why their Ratings are in the "tank"..Sorry Lefties, but Fox News was watched by more people than the Major Networks and Cable Networks on Election Night.

They might bring on the left, if only to ridicule them. But I've seen opposing viewpoints on MSNBC as well. They HAVE to have some type of debate, otherwise people won't watch.

The reason MSNBC's particular ratings were low compared to Fox's is that Fox is really the only conservative network...The liberal viewers are split between all of the others.

I didn't watch last night, but you could be right. I hope you're not though, since networks do not need to be pulling publicity stunts like this, no matter what the reason.

The thing is, he signed a contract with MSNBC stating he couldn't make donations without prior approval from the president of the network. I'm sure he knew perfectly well what he was doing when he made those donations.

I wonder if he'll be on tomorrow's worst persons in the world? .

Nah after the rally on the Mall last weekend and Jon Stewart comments about the media that "Worst Persons of the World" act was dropped by Olbermann. Said enough was enough and took on some of the blame for adding to the problem.

What a shame, Keith's show had to end without ever having had someone on who disagreed with him.

Bullshit. The only reason no conservatives go on the show is because they're scared shitless.

It's not just Keith's show, it's any show outside of the their "conservative bubble"

They appear on Fox "news" and conservative AM radio shows like Limbaugh and Hannity. And that's it.

This new group of conservative nutjobs are in their own little world. They grant no interviews to the mainstream media, the speak only in front of people who have paid to be there that agreed with them anyway, and all quote each other so they can create this pseudo-reality.

And it's getting worse.

Michelle Bachman quotes Palin, who quoted Limbaugh who heard it from The Drudge Report who read it in The National Review.

It's all an endless clusterfuck.

A perfect example is Obama's trip to India: "He's spending 20 million dollars of tax payer money a day ! He's taking 20 percent of our Navy and their ships with him ! He's rented out the Taj Mahal for himself and his 3,000 friends !!"

All of this is nonsense, of course, but corner a conservative about where this info came from and they'll site an "unnamed source" in some Indian newspaper."

Fact checking and retractions are not a part of the "conservative bubble", they don't have to be. Reality is only a distraction.

I do not agree with Olbermann most of the time but I do not think anyone in the media should be silenced.

No one but a handful watch him anyway.

My biggest disagreement with Olbermann is how he NEVER has anyone on his show who disagrees with him. At least Maddow will bring on a Rand Paul to argue with. Olbermann is simply not that bright.

That is Thomas Roberts, and yes he is openly gay! He was let go from Head Line news for some asinine reason. Good to see him back on the air...

I like the guy. He was great when employed at ESPN. However, if NBC has a rule about political contributions and they plan on keeping it as written, he should not be retained. They would have no credibility with their employees if they give in.
