I have tried many types of beans and cooked different ways. They all taste the same the minute you bite into one

I used to put butter and sugar on them as a kid

I liked the country ham, buttermilk biscuits, and redeye gravy

yep, buttermilk biscuits with butter and molasses

so good

my granny would make them every Sunday
and fried chicken and fried cornbread with pinto beans cooked all day on the stove

she had a pantry full of jams, jellies, preserves and homemade pickles
 
shortening in the cast iron skillet and heat it to smoke point

then pour the buttermilk cornbread mix in and bake it

it gets a moist crispy delicious crust that way

I can't eat this stuff anymore, I'd have a heart attack
