Plantar Fasciitis...

Ouch! Yep, had it and it's no fun. The best advice I can offer is to treat yourself to the softest pair of slippers you can find.

You need to see a good podiatrist and have your foot properly bandaged. Plantar fasciitis ain't no fun. Sit down on this comfy couch...there...and I'll make you a nice cup of tea.

if you wear a small heel it will allow the muscles on the bottom of the foot to relax and provide some relief

oh and a little advil wont hurt either

Plantar sucks... Put your feet up.

Feet problems are the pits!

Be careful and find a Podiatrist that will "treat" and NOT mask the problem(s) you are having......

Simply giving medication may NOT end your problems; but just delay the problem and it will come back with a vengenance!

Get good medical advice from an expert or you will continue to hurt BIG time!

Hope you feel better Ger! (*8*)(*8*):kiss:

Oh Geri, I sympathise I really do. :( (*8*)

I've had this complaint since July 2004. It started in one foot and I only had the pain in the mornings. When using the foot the pain would fade away by the afternoon, only to return again after resting.

By December 2004 I had it in both heels and the agonising pain was with me constantly - I could barely walk across a room. The pain was excruciating. Even when resting in bed the pain took hours to subside. I was housebound most of last year.

My feet have slowly got better over the last six months and I am now back to how it all started with some mild pain first thing in the mornings or after resting. I've had to practice walking outside holding on to my push bike every day since last October but I can now get out and about again.

I tried ice packs, exercising (rolling tins of beans with the soles of my feet), and had some special insoles made which didn't seem to help (mind you, I couldn't bear to wear my shoes).

I refused the steroid injections the doc wanted to put into my heels last October.

You may be lucky and be free of your plantar fasciitis in six months, but prepare yourself for the long haul. I seem to have had the longer lasting version!

It has been a very painful experience.

(And now, just as the feet are getting better I've been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat! So I'm now on medication for that. God, I hate getting older. :grrr:)

Geri,
That's aweful. Maybe I will fly out and bring some scones and Devonshire cream to go with the tea. It won't help the condition but it will take your mind off of it. :D

Put your feet up on this, uhm, poof

That's right, Ger, make yourself comfortable

* rolls tea trolly over to Gery *

* pours out tea *

* offers lemon, sugar *

* offers tempting selection of sweets for the sweet *

* gently massages Gery's foot whilst Gery enjoys his tea *
*waits for Hazemaster to suggest 'strapping it up'! ;) LOL*

I'll keep that in mind as the 'last resort'.

I appreciate the suggestions and advice gentlemen.

The stretching has been helping and I have a hot/cold pack that I use. It's a killer by the 'end' of the day which, from what I've read, is a sign of a more severe condition.

I do a LOT of walking as part of work, taking about half of my clients out and about, to say nothing of actually getting to and from the various centres so by the end of the day, I've got major owies.

I think the onset happened when I mistep one day, and really did a number on my left foot. Somehow, I twisted things and for a few days my instep was VERY sore. Felt like I'd pulled intertarsal muscles and whatnot, and somehow did a number underneath as well, for it was then that I started having trouble.

It's been with me about a month and a half and seems to be getting worse. I really can't afford to NOT take 'time off' as that'll really do a number on my income and I'd be in BIG trouble financially were THAT to happen.

Gotta soldier through, carefully and wisely of course.

Once again, thanks for the support and advice...

...and tea and massages. :D (*8*)

I would highly recommend the Healwell Cub. My friend had a pretty severe case in that he was not able to walk for several days. If he did, it would make it worse. The stretching and massaging helped but wearing the cub at night helped keep the foot in a position where the ligament could relax. The normal position of these ligaments in a more stretched out position. The cub helped give the ligaments time to recover. It took a little while for him to feel comfortable sleeping with it on. But it was better than dealing with the pain. If you have to walk when you are in pain make sure to use some crutches or a walker to help keep the weight off the foot. If you get to this point, make sure to walk slowly and carefully...don't pound your other foot down because you can damage your other foot by doing so. I have seen how painful this can be. Getting up in the morning was when it was the worst. I'm sorry that you are going through this. Take care!

Try and stay off your feet as much as possible. You could be reinjuring yourself every time you do. If you need immediate relief from the pain try spraying some therapain. It does not last very long so you need to keep spraying it every once in a while but it is natural, non-toxic, and can offer instant relief.

you need to keep those legs stretched
lift em up over your head at least twice a day for as long as you can.
