You're missing the point. It's what he is saying that is anti-American. As in against America.

He has levied a scathing critique of the foreign policies of the U.S. government that contributed to 9/11. In the example of our founding fathers, we reserve the right to call out our government on bullshit policies and practices. That's how the United States came to be; a bunch of guys calling an imperial government on its bullshit.
