It didn't except in the imaginations of those who prefer political posturing to actually doing something. When people are willing to protect our children the way we protect our money, there will be progress -- until then, all the Democrats are doing is exulting in the murder of school kids because it allows them to sound off and gain political points What actually happened is that both parties determinedly ignore the authority given in Article I Section 8 to actually do something -- and as that's the only authority the Constitution gives on the matter, those who claim they want to do something are just grandstanding.
