You say this like it's some kind of neglect or mistake that the grid goes down. It's simple graft. The Gov, does not fix the grid so that the electric corporations - who initially paid politicians to isolate us from the national grid in the first place - can charge exorbitant emergency prices for power.

Both the abhorrent contracts with the customers and the lack of any kind of even cursory regulation was paid for by corporations who built a grid - designed to fail and toss people into a situation where there was no choice but to pay. Last time there were people getting electric bills for one week in excess of 15 thousand dollars. People went broke, people died, and then the same characters paid Abbot more money to do nothing whatsoever to resolve the situation.
