Using the first amendment to end the first amendment.
Using democracy to end democracy.

Gee.....no different from the "Paradox of Tolerance" that I get all kinds of push back and objections to around here.

I posted the video below in the "Trump This" thread.

There's two segments in the video. The first segment is about how Fox is telling their viewers that the economy is terrible and that Biden is terrible and the Democrats are terrible.

At the end of the video is a second segment called "Debate and Switch" where the interviewer gives a Trump voter a quote by or about Trump but attributes it to Biden. The Trump voters talk about how terrible it is that Biden did or said that. When the interviewer pivots and says, "I'm sorry, I misspoke... that was actually Trump not Biden", the Trump voter immediately changes and makes excuses for Trump.

Phrases like "radical Democrats" are being used to create a group of followers who believe everything Trump is good and everything Democrat is bad. Trump uses the phrases repeatedly and his followers begin to parrot his words ("Fake News", "Crooked Hillary", "Biden Crime Family", et al). Fox, NewsMax and OAN amplify it. Social media bombards people with the disinformation.

The "tribe over truth" phenomenon is dangerous. It uses "Free Speech" to spread lies and disinformation. Fox and OAN do it daily and they get away with it because we have allowed them to be considered "the Press" when they are increasingly a propaganda outfit.

Barbara McQuaid has a book out where she talks about how the mainstreaming of disinformation is creating an "us versus them" culture that demonizes the opposition.

Meanwhile, Republican State Legislatures have been passing legislation that prevents content moderation of disinformation on social media platforms! They claim that removing disinformation from platforms like Instagram is stifling conservative free speech. SCOTUS will be deciding whether States can restrict or sue social media companies when they believe that the company is discriminating against conservatives. 🤦‍♂️
