And completely forgotten was that TikTok was a great way for the Chinese Communist Party to expand their already enormous facial and voice recognition database.

Trump's alternate proposal is that the United States Government will own 50% of TikTok.

Remember back in the 1990s, when the Republicans were objecting to HillaryCare because they paranoid about giving Americans a Federal Healthcare Identifier because they didn't want Federal Government building a database of all Americans based upon an ID number? Another example of the morphing of the Republican Party into a very scary authoritarian regime.

Hey MAGAts!!!

Stuck in frigid Washington with nothing to do today?

Here's some suggestions!

Nothing like cultural appropriation cos-play by replacement actors for a 50-yr old disco dance troupe to kick off the second act of a failed presidency.

As long as we have an Electoral College system

The EC is not the problem -- freezing the size of the House of Representatives is.
If the size was adjusted so that each Representative represented the number of people in the state with the smallest population, the EC results would have aligned with the so-called popular vote all the way back to at least 1900.
And fixing that doesn't require an amendment to the Constitution.

I may not have the whole picture here. I've never been on TikTok, so I haven't followed this very much. But TikTok was banned due to bipartisan legislation passed by congress, signed into law by the president, and upheld by the Supreme Court. Right? Is there something built into this law that gives the president any legal authority to alter the provisions of the law by executive order? Fine, if there is. But if not, what gives Trump the right to do anything? Or is this Trump's first test case on his ability to override the rule of law by kingly fiat? Because if that's true, we've already set the precedent on the first day that the rule of law no longer applies in the country. And that's a very, very bad precedent to set.

Especially with Trump in office it's important to remember something: public officials do not have the "right" to do anything, they only have whatever authority is granted by law. The courts need to remember that.

maybe we need Luigicare...

I just got cards providing me with 80% off all prescriptions at both local pharmacies (yeah, we're down to two -- long story). I checked online and found that even at 80% off, the local pharmacies and my mail-order insurance company pharmacy charge more for every single one of my prescriptions than I can get at Mark Cuban's CostPlus online pharmacy.
So why the frak do I need Part D? Because there are medications that the pharmaceutical companies won't sell to Cuban, just so they can keep the prices high.
