...and I believe this to be the case as well.

War would allow him to suspend all kinds of laws and norms....

Apparently, Republicans don't have tailors who know how to adjust slacks? Why are all these men wearing cordovan shoes that don't match their belts?

That appears to be SecAg Brooke Rollins. WTF is she wearing? She looks like a stripper that they hired as the entertainment.

They're all a mess which shouldn't be a big surprise.

And therein is the contempt that republicans have for their own voters.
It's not about Republicans... It's about the New Apostolic Reformation group and the whole 7 Mountains theology stuff that has taken over the Republican base. They are primed to believe anything.

Well....the quote from Ezra Klein, which is the context, said "The administration's response to the Signal debacle is suffused with contempt for their own voters".

The administration is republicans. Is it not?

The point of the meme and the quote being discussed is about republican and the administration's contempt for their own voters.

The Apostolic, 7 Mountains stuff (which is NOT mentioned in Ezra Klein source quote) is one of the things republicans are manipulating to impose their contempt and to deceive their own voters.

The point is about what republicans think of their own voters.

My point is that what we used to call the "Republican base" has changed radically. What we thought was "MAGA" is actually connected strongly to a group of Christians that we used to label as Dominionists. Like QAnon, these evangelicals have a cult-like devotion and very prone to believe things that sound crazy to the rest of us. I don't believe they are being tricked. They are already indoctrinated to believe whatever they are told from an administration they believe is putting into place "God's plan for America".

Aye, but there's the rub: the people who voted for them CAN verily be tricked by the laziest misdirection.
I listen to the nonsense that is coming out of the White House Press Room, from the mouths of Republican Congressional members and it sounds absurd. To the evangelicals, it all sounds perfectly logical - that this story was made up by a radical Democratic Jew! reporter from The Atlantic and that good Christians who are part of their movement, like JD Vance, are doing the right thing to fight the Communists and Muslims.

If you want an eye-opener, have a Republican friend show you their social media feed. It's full of stuff that is completely bonkers but that they believe to be true.

The problem is no longer the Republican Party. The problem is that what used to be the Republican Party now has a base that has been taken over by a very radical group of evangelicals and nationalists who are used to believing crazy shit that they're told.

This Christo-Fascist Reich-wing religious base didn't just change out of nowhere. Years ago, republicans saw an opportunity to take advantage. They tended, fed, and cultivated this base. Starting with Nixon, the republican party paved the way for Trump with decades of racism, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, etc., exploiting the religious right, and with not so subtle fascism. They used Fox, talk radio, Jerry Falwell, and others to stoke fear, bigotry, hate, white supremacy and division, convincing them that Democrats were evil and wanted to destroy their religion. Much of what the religious right has become today is laid right at the feet of republican effort.

Now the monster is out of control.

I would say this entire evangelical group has indeed been tricked into believing this upside down Christianity. These evangelicals are even openly saying that empathy for other human beings is a sin. They didn't just pick this up from Musk in the last few weeks. It's been around for a while. In the overall, after decades of work, lies, and gaslighting, evangelicals were totally tricked and deceived by republicans into believing Trump was their Messiah. Republicans found fertile ground to exploit and took full advantage. Evangelicals willingly went along. Exploited by their own ignorance and bigotry. To use their terminology, they've been tricked by the devil. Deceived into believing the actual message of Jesus; kindness, forgiveness, compassion, taking care of one another, the Golden Rule; is weak and sinful. They're feeding off their own hate, and their hate feeds on them. They don't even realize it.

Republicans now have nothing but contempt for the monster they created. They got the votes they needed. Now they only need the monster to keep them in power until all opposition is crushed. Then, so will the monster be crushed. One of these days there will be a reckoning. I hope it won't happen like it had to in Germany. But fear it will. We must fight back so it won't.
