Sadly, I've known too many people who've gotten an education and still qualify as "stupid motherfuckers".
Exactly: goody leftist "Rousseaunian" ideals assume people are basically good and reasonable, while they are actually more or less wilder or milder Yahoos with a coating of "civilization" and "education"... Wait until the situation gets really bad... It will make WWII times pale as meek and demure. Those who read Lakoff's "The political mind" and such may have STARTED realising all that some time ago.

Because Germany never was a "highly cultured and developed country"... There were "highly cultured" individuals and groups, and highly developed industries and social forms, whose work served to set a general tone and give a general impression of predominant qualities...
The rest were just nazis "who did not know" that they were nazis before Nazism, and who then "did not know and had not known anything about anything at all" once Nazism was gone. They were the "good, simple, 'REAL' people".
FFS, everyone unwittlingly knows that: in all popular stories there are the happy few johnwaynes who "save the world", and the rest are just there for nothing, or to be cannon fodder.. Or to act as dangerous sycophants of the happy few bad, powerful people.
