I'm more optimistic. I'm an old white dude, born in 1950.
The progress I've witnessed, and been a part of, just over the short years of my lifetime (so far) has been amazing!
Yes! Ignorant can be fixed! Stupid? Not so much! So ... yeah ... it's never going to stop completely.
However, there is far less screaming than there used to be, and I think it's getting even better. The recent (last 6 yr., or so) outbursts from the MAGAts are in for a comeuppance, or several, fairly soon. We can't put that toothpaste back in the tube, but we can certainly flush a lot of it down the drain!

Using your analogy, there's still a portion of the population that will stick their raw hand down that toilet to salvage whatever crumbs of racism they can. That works on multiple levels.

Seems Americans only support an outspoken black men when he's dead and can't challenge their ideals anymore. You get the feelgoods of pretending to be on his side without having to do any of the actual self-reflection and work to align your politics and beliefs with his beyond the most superficial and performative manner.

"Half" is giving the MAGA-heads too much credit. If you do the numbers, at most they're an eighth -- though a very scary eighth, in part because historically having 15% of the adult population moving as a mass has been enough to topple countries.

That's misrepresentation. I hate the decision, but it stands in a strong legal tradition that anything the Constitution doesn't give Congress authority over belongs to the states, especially when Congress hasn't even spoken.

More to the point, it was an attack on the right to privacy and a very ignorant one at that since previous Courts have found the right to privacy in the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments.

There is none, I've ascertained a sizable portion of the white population is wholly incapable of even a modicum of empathy for POC. We're just gonna be screaming at each other til the surn burns us all up or the planet is nuked via WWIII.

The interesting thing is that no one is actually losing money in this; the majority of student loans have a high enough interest that if payments were taken off the principal the loans would have been paid back. So for the most part, all that's being lost is the future profit.
