People like that don't use "Christian" in any sense you might recognize. To them, "Christian" means racist, straight, White, Protestant, and American. Christ has fuck all to do with it.

Well, the Constitution was commissioned in 1798 and made most of it's maritime voyages during the early to mid 1800's; so, yes, a boarding hatchet was a common tool of a Marine Not so much in today's Navy, since boarding operations went the way of the wooden hull
