In 2015, Trump was able to annihilate all the competition because media gave him all the oxygen in the room. And all the sad sacks running for the GOP nomination were brought to realize that while they were laughing stocks and washed up as contenders for the White House because of his attacks, they realized that he would win the White House and give them the opportunity to further their real goals.

I'm not sure it will be the same this time, although everyone seems to be fleeing DeSantis early and the GQP has fronted no other credible candidate.

In order to drop Trump to the floor, DeSantis has to get really dirty and stop fighting Disney and instead fight Trump. Otherwise, he will get destroyed before the Iowa caucus and never recover. At the moment, Ronda just seems to only have anti-wokeness as a platform...and that isn't going to attract the real money he needs to run.

They're discovering that DeSantis is a smart guy but he has a bit of social awkwardness about him. He goes to events, gives his speech and runs for the exit, instead of schmoozing with donors and attendees. He yells at female reporters in press conferences with personal attacks. His speeches are boring and lackluster and he's not a good public speaker.

He was out of State "promoting his book" when Broward and Miami-Dade county had cataclysmic rains and record flooding a couple of weeks ago. The crap he's been pulling with Disney and other childish battles have made him look spiteful and weak.

When called out on his BS, he freezes like he did when Crist asked him during the debate if he would promise that he's not going to abandon Florida to run for President.

The Trump ads indicate that Trump is worried that DeSantis might carry Florida in the Republican primary but knowing DeSantis' pettiness, all the ads are likely to accomplish is to make him reconsider his stance on extradition when Trump gets charged and/or convicted.

I suspect that the majority of GQP'ers are praying for crushing federal indictments on one hand to open up the field for more candidates and praying for Trump to win the nom on the other hand because they must be realizing by now that they have no one to equal Trump to pull the far right vote.
