I don't know if that's really true this time around. There was a splash as the historic trial got under way, especially with the salacious testimony, but it's really not getting long air time in the evening news, and people at work never even mention it.
Interestingly, I'm seeing zero political signage for the fall. No one seems to want to revive the fight on a personal level. Sure, the news covers the true believers, but I'm certain the vast majority of the citizenry would agree to ban their ticket's nominee in exchange for the other party doing the same. Just a theory.

On a related note, anyone who is working six jobs is an adopter of the gig economy, and chose it because they don't want to be locked into schedules, corporate controls, pay taxes, work 40 or more hours a week, work for 40 years, get up in the morning, etc.
The disinterest is more about the Mid-east being a never-ending shit-hole of conflict and the young generations having negative interest in religion.
