It was comical and a great moment.

However, the population watching doesn't want to watch journalists debate the candidates. They can get that every day and every Sunday on the political "news" shows.

We would rather hear the exchange between the two debaters. Let THEM counter each other's half-truths and lies. That's what debate it.

In classical competitive debates, the moderators are never rebutting the speakers. It makes the journalists look envious of who has power. And that's also why the coming generations despise the main networks and news presenters. They are almost all liars and deceivers.
