In the sad State of Affairs that is the far-right in America... FEMA had to pull employees out some of temporary emergency assistance centers last week because armed militia members were threatening FEMA workers. Aid to several communities impacted by Hurricane Helene was temporarily paused in parts of North Carolina over the weekend due to reports of threats against Federal Emergency Management Agency responders, amid a backdrop of misinformation about responses to recent storms.

I was thinking this weekend that the most significant casualty of the Trump years is "the truth". Politicians and proxies have always had trouble with exaggeration and out-of-context claims. But this is something new- they're just making up shit or parroting rumors that have no basis in fact. And we're seeing the consequences on the ground in North Carolina.

More "truth casualties".

Jake Tapper asks Rov Glen Youngkin (R-VA) about Trump's public statements that he's going to use the military to go after "radical leftists". Youngkin desperately tries to change the topic to the preferred Republican talking point, immigration.

Youngkin is so thrown that he exaggerates the talking points and the outright lies. "10 million people coming over the border every single day"? Never mind that most fentanyl siezed at the border is found in vehicles driven by American citizens- about 70% of those arrested for smuggling at the border are US citizens.

Youngkin also made partially misleading statements about the Quantico incident. The two men were Jordanians. However, one of the Jordanians had entered the US on a student visa, while the other man entered via the Southern border. There is something odd about the incident but it has no connection to "radical leftists" which is what Youngkin was asked about.

The Biden/Harris administration refused to divulge the names of the two Jordanians against five written congressional inquiries, a sixth by Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, and most recently a subpoena by the Republican-led House Homeland Security Committee of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The "15,000" number Youngkin quoted also shows that he didn't actually know the details. The number is actually 662,000 and it's a problem that originates in the State of Texas which is not co-operating with ICE in deporting undocumented immigrants who commit felonies in the US and should be subject to deportation. It is an issue that the Biden Administration and Congress does need to deal with (and was in some of the legislation James Lankford (R-OK) proposed but Trump prevented from getting a vote):
