Many of them never had the chance to be good in school or function in society when they are growing up and have watched their own mothers cowed and browbeaten...or actually beaten for having any independence of thought.

They've also bought into the whole fundamentalist Christian nationalist mindset. "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
