Only difference is that the above fascist did not need to cower behind bulletproof glass.

More accurate.

That option was not available. 🪟
The "cowering" option or the "bulletproof glass" option?

Bulletproof glass was an accidental invention in the early 1900s (there was an episode of "Mysteries at the Museum" about it). The fascists could have been behind bulletproof glass, in theory. Our own fascist will probably never be at a public event without it.

From Betty Bowers.

The Daily Express has the same kind of fair and balanced trustworthyness as Fox News. While there was still a conservative govt, the inevitable high-cost-for-no-benefit of Brexit was just fearmongering. The same (smaller) price rises under a Labour govt have become a disaster. Nothing will ever make the paper for right wing has beens admit that it was wrong to be promoting Brexit not just pre 2016 but every day since we joined up over fifty years ago.

So, since I've been turning more and more to the BBC for news since everyone here is in a feeding frenzy of trumpeting every idiotic and insane thing Toad has to say and NOTHING ELSE, what would you suggest?

We did BBC for a number of years besides CBC, but abandoned all Televised bobbleheads eventually because at the end of the day, they just don't provide enough in-depth reportage and un-biased journalism.

So now. we only read print from a wide variety of sources, try to filter out bias and grasp the 'facts'.

I'm finding that one result of being the most narcissistic country on the planet is that I can find a surprising amount of reporting I didn't suspect was out there. It is at times mortifying to see what other are saying, but that's got to be a good thing. It's a motivator at any rate.

Of course...we know they won't.

Do NOT "eliminate Citizens United"!

What most people don't understand is that if the decision had gone the other way, Congress would have been handed to power to decided who does and doesn't get to engage in political speech during elections -- and to authorize a new agency to decide what counts as political and whether it is an election cycle.

If CU had gone the other way, you would see bills in Congress to ban political speech on all communist, gay, immigrant, and socialist forums online -- and it would be judged constitutional.

It wasn't the decision in Citizens United that was bad, it was the reasoning.

What is needed is an Amendment that defines political rights as belonging only to living, breathing citizens and legal residents, or by groups formed by such for the sole and explicit purpose of engaging in exercising such rights and funded only by their own money. That would shut down politicking by churches, corporations, foundations, societies, unions, etc. and put speech back in the hands of we the people.

The Guardian gets a lot of American online readers. Thankyou dear American readers coz some of you have plenty of money and send in big hunky donations. I can only afford funsize donations. The hard copy paper loses money, so donations are needed to keep everything online free all over the world. The Telegraph have very high quality writers but with a heavy tilt to the right and a paywall so stuff that. The Morning Star is a tiny hard left paper, bless them but they cant afford to serious reporting.
The Sun, Times ,Mail and Express are trash that I would not wipe my arse on.

As for SCOTUS, split the Ninth at the southern border of Oregon and Idaho, move Arizona to the Tenth, split the Fourth along Virginia' southern border, and make the total justices 15 -- and requiring the new ones to have a 2/3 approval in the Senate.
