What is missing glaringly from the GOP "plan" is the bit where corporations pay American enough of the profits to enable them to afford American-made cars, plastic straws, clothes, Wal-Mart crap, etc.

All that is plausible is that a diminishing point of return kills demand after raising prices.

And for the second-hand market for major purchases, it is predictable that an informal cartel will form as it has with second-hand cars, where bottom-feeding resellers buy up direct sales that owners didn't "trade in" and resell them at jacked up prices.

That is very much the case in the post-pandemic used car market, where new car sellers are afraid to even advertize prices in major media ads.
