I'd be interested to know how the square footage of a home in the 1930s compares to the square footage of a home in the 2020s, but the point is taken.
I would also like to know what the required % of down payment was in the depression. I'm pretty sure that a 1/3 down payment was required in the 1950's (or maybe that was for a good interest rate). I'm pretty sure that you can buy many homes now with a 10% down payment or less.I'd be interested to know how the square footage of a home in the 1930s compares to the square footage of a home in the 2020s, but the point is taken.

According to Susan Wachter, professor of real estate and finance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, before the 1930s most mortgages were short-term and non-amortizing: a home buyer had to either pay off the whole house in a lump sum after a few years, or roll over the loan at a new interest rate. Down payments, on the other hand, were typically more than 30 percent.

Let me guess. Not a one of them ever took a course in ethics or has travelleed widely or volunteered for any kind of social work.

Amazing how we've allowed Trump (and Bill Barr) to relabel his persistent Russian connections as "The Russia Hoax".
