Political Cartoons, Memes & Amusing Videos

Texas took around 26 billion from the Fed in 2024, the vast majority of it went to Medicaid and welfare, programs that Texas is trying very hard to get out of having. The goal is no money at all for these programs so the maker of that meme not only hjas his facts wrong, he can take comfort in the knowledge that Republicans in Texas are trying very hard to take no money at all.

Let the rabble starve is their motto.

The idea that Texas is somehow bellying up to the Federal trough is exactly what the Trogs are trying to stop.

It looks like they were getting numbers from all state, local and welfare federal funding. I saw a number of 61 billion for 2024.

But the amount has been reduced greatly each year over the last 5.

But doesn't Texas want 26 billion dollars of federal money to be spent in their state? Think of all of the businesses that would profit from that fed money and then go on to pay state taxes on that profit? If I disagreed with Medicaid and welfare, I wouldn't stare a gift horse in the mouth.

No, that money for Federal Social Programs does not go to rich people and there is oversight on how it's spent. The 'Pubs don't care about poor people who deserve to die since they're obviously lazy parasites.

Money for small businesses doesn't require the State to approve, it comes directly from the Fed to the recipient and is not money "taken" by the State of Texas.

Money that goes to an individual or business is not money that the State of Texas has "taken" from the Fed. By far the vast majority of the money coming to the State from the Fed goes to social programs that the Republicans inhibit any way they can.

Why? Because they don't want those people healthy or educated and probably voting.

A better measure is not dollars anyway since the revenues from the state of Texas will be higher than anywhere that's not California probably because the state is the second most populous and there are simply more people. If you look at Alaska as a hypothetical there are more people in Austin than the whole State and even if they were all taking Federal aid it would still look like Texas was taking more simply because of population difference. A better metric would be what percentage of State revenue is Federal Aid. By that metric Texas ranks #38 with #1 being the highest percentage of Federal aid.

That meme is misleading, and it's claims of fact are wrong. If that person wanted to make an accurate inference he could have chosen anyone in the top ten, top twenty, top thirty, but he did not. Making that meme look like a personal dislike more than anything trying to impart the truth.

We don't like it when the right does that, so let's not be them.
